{"id":46905,"date":"2025-09-18T08:51:14","date_gmt":"2025-09-18T08:51:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2025\/09\/18\/watch-steven-tyler-and-slash-perform-live-with-joe-perry\/"},"modified":"2025-09-18T08:51:14","modified_gmt":"2025-09-18T08:51:14","slug":"watch-steven-tyler-and-slash-perform-live-with-joe-perry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2025\/09\/18\/watch-steven-tyler-and-slash-perform-live-with-joe-perry\/","title":{"rendered":"Watch Steven Tyler and Slash Perform Live With Joe Perry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>On the first of two nights of the <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/the-who\/\">Who<\/a>\u2019s \u201cThe Song Is Over\u201d Farewell Tour at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Sept. 17, much of the excitement and drama was focused not on <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/roger-daltrey\/\">Roger Daltrey<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/pete-townshend\/\">Pete Townshend<\/a> but the opening act, the <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/joe-perry\/\">Joe Perry<\/a> Project.<\/p>\n<p>The outfit, led by the <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/aerosmith\/\">Aerosmith<\/a> guitarist, has historically been a side project to keep its namesake busy while his main band was inactive, but it took on greater significance in recent months, after Aerosmith was forced to <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/aerosmith-retires-from-touring\/\">cancel their own farewell tour<\/a> when singer <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/steven-tyler\/\">Steven Tyler<\/a> injured his vocal cords, ultimately leading the band to announce they\u2019ve retired from touring.<\/p>\n<p>Given Tyler\u2019s uncertain future, Perry <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/joe-perry-project-2025-tour-photos-set-list-review\/\">hit the road in August<\/a> with an all-star version of the JPP featuring <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/chris-robinson\/\">Chris Robinson<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/black-crowes\/\">Black Crowes<\/a> on vocals, Perry\u2019s Aerosmith bandmate <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/brad-whitford\/\">Brad Whitford<\/a> on guitar, <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/stone-temple-pilots\/\">Stone Temple Pilots<\/a> bassist Robert DeLeo, ex-Smash Mouth drummer Jason Sutter and recent addition, Black Crowes backing vocalist Mackenzie Adams.<\/p>\n<p>While the current lineup is enough for celebration, when word leaked out that <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/steven-tyler-joe-perry-hollywood-bowl\/\">Tyler would join the band<\/a> for a few songs, it amped up the anticipation, and Tyler did not disappoint.<\/p>\n<p>Late in the band\u2019s set, he joined Perry and company for Aerosmith\u2019s signature hit \u201cWalk This Way\u201d and a rousing version of their classic cover of \u201cTrain Kept A-Rollin,\u201d complete with Tyler playing a bit of train whistle in the intro.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"><strong>Watch Steven Tyler Perform &#8216;Walk This Way&#8217; With the Joe Perry Project<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>Slash Also Joined the Joe Perry Project&#8217;s Hollywood Bowl Show<\/h3>\n<p>The 77-year-old screamer sounded strong in voice, and all seemed to be enjoying his presence, including Robinson, who remained on stage and provided backing vocals.<br \/>Tyler wasn\u2019t the only guest to appear with Perry and company. <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/guns-n-roses\/\">Guns N\u2019 Roses<\/a> guitarist <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/slash\/\">Slash<\/a> made an appearance early in the set on the vintage Aerosmith blues rocker \u201cMama Kin,\u201d trading riffs with Perry and Whitford.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"><strong>Watch Slash Perform &#8216;Mama Kin&#8217; With the Joe Perry Project<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Aside from the guest spots, the band stuck to a setlist of Aerosmith deep cuts (\u201cCombination,\u201d \u201cLast Child,\u201d \u201cGet It Up,\u201d and \u201cChip Away the Stone\u201d) and a few Perry songs (\u201cLet the Music Do the Talking\u201d and \u201cEast Coast, West Coast\u201d), along with gems by the Black Crowes (\u201cTwice as Hard\u201d) and Stone Temple Pilots (\u201cVasoline\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>Early in the set, Robinson laid down the band\u2019s mission statement, saying, \u201cThis is the Joe Perry Project and we play rock \u2018n\u2019 roll!\u201d And the band did not disappoint, with Perry serving up classic guitar riffs while Robinson admirably filled the frontman role.<\/p>\n<p>While the Joe Perry Project proved to be a solid attraction, seeing Tyler and Perry back together again on stage gives fans hope that perhaps Aerosmith will reunite for their own proper farewell in the future.
