The singer-songwriter, a.k.a. Claire Cottrill, has signed with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/atlantic-records\/\" id=\"auto-tag_atlantic-records\" data-tag=\"atlantic-records\">Atlantic Records<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cI\u2019m so thrilled to begin this next chapter of my musical journey with Atlantic,\u201d Cottrill said in a statement. \u201cFrom our first meeting, they immediately understood my vision, and it feels good to know I can continue to be as expressive and free with my ideas with a great new partner by my side.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe signing news arrives a little over a year after Cottrill released the excellent <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/clairo-charm-review-1235057878\/\">Charm<\/a><\/em>, which earned her a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/grammy-nominations-2025-list-1235156923\/\">Grammy nomination<\/a> \u2014 her first, for Best Alternative Music Album \u2014\u00a0and hundreds of millions of streams for singles \u201cJuna\u201d and \u201cSexy to Someone.\u201d That album was self-released, following her 2017 debut,<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/clairos-immunity-proves-her-viral-success-was-no-fluke-866627\/\"> Immunity <\/a><\/em>(released through the Fader label), and 2021\u2019s<em> <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/clairo-sling-1197100\/\"><em>Sling<\/em><\/a> (released through Fader and Republic Records). \u201cThis is my third album, and people know me a little bit better, but fuck, they still don\u2019t know,\u201d she<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/clairo-charm-track-breakdown-1235065232\/\"> told <em>RS<\/em><\/a> at the time. \u201cIt takes so many records to really understand someone\u2019s choices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tClairo kicked off her career in 2017 with her glittery bedroom-pop song \u201cPretty Girl,\u201d which went viral on YouTube, while she was still a student at Syracuse University. Major labels came calling right away, but she signed with the independent Fader instead. Even so, some online commenters at the time targeted her with \u201cindustry plant\u201d accusations, because her father, a marketing executive, was friendly with the label\u2019s founder, Jon Cohen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cI\u2019m nervous to talk about it, because I want to make sure I say this right,\u201d she told us in her 2021 <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/clairo-new-album-sling-blouse-antonoff-immunity-1193000\/\">Rolling Stone<\/a><\/em> cover story. \u201cI signed with Fader because I\u2019ve known Jon Cohen my whole life. There was a sense of accountability and protection. I definitely am not blind to the fact that things have been easier for me than other people\u2019s experiences. I would be stupid to not want that guidance from somebody that my family trusts. People just think what they want to think and I can\u2019t stop that, but I am getting better at explaining it for what it is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tNow, she\u2019s embarking on a new phase, and hopefully there\u2019s new music to come, too. In the meantime, Clairo is slated to perform at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/all-things-go-nyc-2025-lineup-doechii-lucy-dacus-clairo-1235322509\/\">All Things Go festival<\/a>, stopping in Washington, D.C.
