{"id":47047,"date":"2025-09-19T16:06:42","date_gmt":"2025-09-19T16:06:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2025\/09\/19\/sammy-hagar-imagines-being-friends-with-david-lee-roth\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T16:06:42","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T16:06:42","slug":"sammy-hagar-imagines-being-friends-with-david-lee-roth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2025\/09\/19\/sammy-hagar-imagines-being-friends-with-david-lee-roth\/","title":{"rendered":"Sammy Hagar Imagines Being Friends With David Lee Roth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/sammy-hagar\/\">Sammy Hagar <\/a>imagined what it would be like if he and<a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/david-lee-roth\/\"> David Lee Roth<\/a> were friends, imagining the pair taking an island cruise.<\/p>\n<p>While the <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/van-halen\/\">Van Halen <\/a>singers have endured strained relations over the years, recent comments about the ghost of <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/eddie-van-halen\/\">Eddie Van Halen<\/a> appeared to suggest a change of heart.<\/p>\n<p>In 2022 Hagar <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/sammy-hagar-eddie-van-halen-dream-song\/\">said<\/a> the late guitarist had visited him and helped him write the song <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/sammy-hagar-encore-thank-you-goodnight\/\">\u201cEncore, Thank You, Goodnight.\u201d<\/a> Roth <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/david-lee-roth-eddie-van-halen-ghost-visit\/\">followed<\/a> those comments in August 2025 by telling a concert audience that he, too, had seen Van Halen\u2019s spirit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ MORE:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/sammy-hagar-residency-live-album\/\">Sammy Hagar Celebrates Van Halen With &#8216;The Residency&#8217; Live Album<\/a><\/p>\n<p>While Roth\u2019s words appeared to gently mock Hagar\u2019s, <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/sammy-hagar-david-lee-roth-eddie-van-halen-dream\/\">the Red Rocker was impressed<\/a> by the warmth and quality of the story, as he told Eddie Trunk in a recent edition of <em>Trunk Nation<\/em> on SiriusXM (audio below).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo me, it was, like, \u2018Wow, Dave actually became cool for a minute about me,\u2019\u201d Hagar said. \u201cAnd I think he and I can be friends. Honestly, I would love to be friends with Dave. He\u2019s the wackiest guy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn my opinion, he\u2019d be a blast to hang with. Get on a boat and go cruising around in the islands or something with that guy and some of our friends and stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He argued: \u201cWe\u2019ve got so much in common and so much history together, if you think about it. We both spent 10 years of our lives with Van Halen\u2026 we wrote songs with [Eddie]. \u2026 We\u2019re totally two different kinds of people, but that\u2019s what makes it fun. The people around us would be having more fun!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Referring to Roth\u2019s onstage chat, Hagar added: \u201cHe\u2019s a good storyteller. And I just thought it was wonderful that he actually said, \u2018You know, Sammy Hagar, the guy\u2019s got a great voice,\u2019 or something like that. He said, \u2018And he\u2019s got a good catalog.\u2019 Whoa, Dave, right on, brother!\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Sammy Hagar Disappointed Himself at Ozzy Osbourne Farewell Show<\/h3>\n<p>Elsewhere in the interview, Hagar recalled taking part in <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/ozzy-osbourne\/\">Ozzy Osbourne<\/a>\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/ozzy-osbourne-final-performance\/\">final show<\/a>, admitting that he\u2019d messed up his performance of Osbourne track \u201cFlying High Again\u201d at the concert in July.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was very disappointed in myself,\u201d he said. \u201cI said, \u2018I don\u2019t [want a] teleprompter; I never use teleprompters.\u2019 \u2026 they said, \u2018Well, we\u2019ll put it up there just in case.\u2019 \u2026 I thought I had it memorized.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While he was waiting to go on, he became lost in conversation with a group of people. \u201cAll of a sudden I hear them announce me, and I was 50 yards from the stage! \u2026 I go running out, and I\u2019m walking around.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey start the song\u2026 I step out on the ramp and I go, \u2018Holy shit!\u2019 I missed that whole thing! And I\u2019m running back looking for the fricking teleprompter. And of course, the lyrics are moving faster than I\u2019m singing them!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He continued: \u201cI got it together after that. But, man, if you wanna talk about having your private parts shrink up\u2026 I choked.\u201d But he added: \u201cThat song was great\u2026 after we got it going.
