During this week\u2019s episode of Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2018s Nashville Now<\/a><\/em> podcast, singer-songwriter Dasha<\/a> shares her firsthand experience with the uneven balance of power in Nashville, especially when it comes to what artists can and cannot say.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cEspecially in the country world, men, for the most part, can do no wrong. The more they\u2019re outspoken and the more they express their opinions and go outside the lines, the more someone\u2019s like, \u2018Oh, he\u2019s so cool,\u2019\u201d Dasha says.<\/p>\n \n\tBut were a woman dare to be outspoken, she\u2019d expect blowback, often from the genre\u2019s very fans.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cWomen are so cutthroat. If I saw a woman breaking the rules online a bit, in the country world, wearing some shorts that her cheeks are out, I\u2019d be like, \u2018Go queen!\u2019 But they\u2019re like, \u2018You stupid bitch,\u2019\u201d Dasha says of online commenters<\/a>.<\/p>\n \n\tAfter some therapy, Dasha says she\u2019s able to better deal with the comments she receives. In the past, she\u2019s read them and tear up. \u201cNow, when I see those comments, I\u2019m like, \u2018Thanks, Karen from Minnesota, you\u2019re feeding my algorithm. Appreciate you, girl.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
