\n\tDuring an appearance on The Tonight Show<\/a><\/em>, Eric Church<\/a> reflected on owning Taylor Swift<\/a>\u2018s first gold record, which she gave him after replacing him on tour in 2006.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMy first major arena tour, I was invited to no longer be a part of,\u201d Church told Jimmy Fallon<\/a> of the Rascal Flatts\u00a0trek, although he didn\u2019t mention the artist by name. \u201cThat\u2019s all I\u2019m going to say about that one. But when I was no longer invited to be a part of it, it was at Madison Square Garden here. And if you\u2019re going to not be invited to be a part of something, that\u2019s the place, Jimmy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe following day Church got a call from Swift. \u201cI actually found out about it online, that I had been replaced by this\u2014I think she was 16\u2014blonde-haired [singer]. She had a song called \u2018Tim McGraw.\u2019 And so she calls. And it actually was great.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tSwift told Church she hoped there was no bad blood between them and that she loved what he did. \u201cI said, \u2018Listen Taylor, I have seen this crowd. This crowd is going to love you. I love what you do,’\u201d Church recounted. \u201cI said, \u2018This is going to really be great for you and you owe me your first gold record when this happen.\u2019 Here\u2019s what\u2019s crazy: It took like seven days.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe recalled being at a music festival \u201cnot even 30 days later\u201d when Swift walked on to his tour bus with the gold record for her debut LP. \u201cShe walks up and she inscribed it, \u2018To Eric, thanks for playing too long and too loud on the tour. Sincerely, Taylor,’\u201d Church said. \u201cYou could just tell then. Just an artist. An artist.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tToday, the gold record is in the Country Music Hall of Fame. \u201cThey don\u2019t let me have it,\u201d Church quipped. <\/p>\n
