Scotty McCreery<\/a>‘s wife, Gabi, has quietly played a vital role in his career success so far.<\/p>\n McCreery told Taste of Country Nights\u2019<\/a><\/em> Evan Paul that as soon as a song is finished, Gabi is the first person to hear it. Her reaction often determines whether the rest of the world gets to hear it, too.<\/p>\n The \u201cDamn Strait\u201d singer says that when he finishes a song, it goes \u201cstraight to the wife \u2014 and she\u2019s so honest.\u201d<\/p>\n McCreery explains that Gabi doesn\u2019t hold back if she doesn\u2019t like something. \u201cShe\u2019s honest almost to a fault. She\u2019ll be like, \u2018Ooh, not your best work,\u2019\u201d he admits with a laugh.<\/p>\n On the other hand, if Gabi likes what she hears, \u201cshe\u2019s like, \u2018Oh, this is a vibe.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Think about it this way: as a singer-songwriter, you often believe the last thing you recorded is the best thing you\u2019ve ever done. You\u2019re excited about the final version and eager for fans to hear it \u2014 but then your wife isn\u2019t impressed.<\/span><\/p>\n McCreery, being the gentle, kind-hearted soul that he is, takes his wife\u2019s word as gospel.
