The Baltimore hardcore band closed their set at Brown\u2019s Island with \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/watch-turnstile-video-for-new-songs-seein-stars-and-birds\/\">Birds<\/a>\u201d from their new album <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/reviews\/albums\/turnstile-never-enough\/\"><em>Never Enough<\/em><\/a>, during which concertgoers are typically invited to join them onstage.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=YLGaZRUXLpQ\">video<\/a> circulated widely by CBS 6 News, one fan attempts to climb onto the stage, at which point they appear to be pepper-sprayed by a sheriff\u2019s deputy. Turnstile bassist Franz Lyons can also be seen covering his eyes and running towards the back of the stage.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, September 26, Richmond Sheriff Antionette Irving <a data-offer-url=\"https:\/\/www.wtvr.com\/news\/local-news\/turnstile-concert-pepper-spray-richmond-sept-25-2025\" class=\"external-link\" data-event-click=\"{&quot;element&quot;:&quot;ExternalLink&quot;,&quot;outgoingURL&quot;:&quot;https:\/\/www.wtvr.com\/news\/local-news\/turnstile-concert-pepper-spray-richmond-sept-25-2025&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wtvr.com\/news\/local-news\/turnstile-concert-pepper-spray-richmond-sept-25-2025\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">told CBS 6<\/a> that the alleged pepper spray incident is currently under investigation. In the same report, a spokesperson for the Richmond City Sheriff\u2019s Office also confirmed that local police department had been handling security at the Turnstile show.<\/p>\n<p>When reached by Pitchfork, the Richmond City Sheriff\u2019s Office offered no further comment. Pitchfork has also reached out to Turnstile\u2019s representatives for  for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Turnstile are currently <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/turnstile-announce-the-never-enough-tour\/\">touring North America<\/a> in support of <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/reviews\/albums\/turnstile-never-enough\/\"><em>Never Enough<\/em><\/a>, with support from Speed, Jane Remover, Amyl and the Sniffers, Mannequin Pussy, and Blood Orange.
