Holding Absence has been around for a decade; the AI \u201cband,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/bleeding-verse\/\" id=\"auto-tag_bleeding-verse\" data-tag=\"bleeding-verse\">Bleeding Verse<\/a>, only launched on Spotify in late July. \u201cIt\u2019s shocking, it\u2019s disheartening, it\u2019s insulting,\u201d Woodland <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Lucaswoodland\/status\/1973076515773456659\">wrote<\/a> on X. \u201cMost importantly \u2013 it\u2019s a wake up call. Oppose <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/ai-music\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ai-music\" data-tag=\"ai-music\">AI music<\/a>, or bands like us stop existing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tBleeding Verse, which says in its Spotify bio that it uses \u201chuman lyrics, turned into songs with AI\u201d has accumulated 897,349 monthly listeners in just two months. AI-assisted instrumentation and vocals.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Only When It&#039;s You\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bE-PnoKMSQA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIn recent weeks, Reddit users have <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/MetalForTheMasses\/s\/iuo3ElzoaO\">mentioned<\/a> that Spotify\u2019s algorithm has recommended Bleeding Verse tracks to them, just as it promoted the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/ai-band-the-velvet-sundown-confirm-ai-1235379354\/\">now-infamous<\/a> Velvet Sundown and other AI acts.\u00a0\u201cThis is the first time I\u2019ve been fooled by AI,\u201d one Redditor wrote. \u201cIt\u2019s getting scarily good.\u201d Another user said that a Bleeding Verse song made them \u201ctear up,\u201d and that the revelation of its AI nature left them \u201cfeeling strangely betrayed.\u00a0(A Spotify spokesperson did not immediately respond to <em>Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2018s request for comment.)
