The follow-up to last year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/reviews\/albums\/taylor-swift-the-tortured-poets-department-the-anthology\/\"><em>The Tortured Poets Department<\/em><\/a> and its extended edition, <em>The Anthology<\/em>, features <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/artists\/sabrina-carpenter\/\">Sabrina Carpenter<\/a> on the title track, as well as a sample of <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/artists\/29164-george-michael\/\">George Michael<\/a>\u2019s \u201cFather Figure\u201d on the song of the same name. Swift worked on her new album with Max Martin and Shellback, the Swedish production duo who co-helmed much of 2012\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/reviews\/albums\/taylor-swift-red\/\"><em>Red<\/em><\/a>, 2014\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/reviews\/albums\/taylor-swift-1989\/\"><em>1989<\/em><\/a>, and 2017\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/reviews\/albums\/taylor-swift-reputation\/\"><em>Reputation<\/em><\/a>. George Michael Entertainment wishes Taylor every success with The Life of a Showgirl and Father Figure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After announcing <em>The Life of a Showgirl<\/em> almost two months ago, Swift <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/taylor-swift-reveals-new-album-cover-and-tracklist-on-travis-kelces-podcast-watch\/\">revealed<\/a> the album&#8217;s cover art and tracklist on an episode of <em>New Heights<\/em>, the podcast hosted by her <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/taylor-swift-and-travis-kelce-announce-engagement\/\">now-fianc\u00e9e<\/a>, Travis Kelce, and his brother, Jason Kelce. Since releasing <em>The Tortured Poets Department<\/em> in 2024, she concluded her record-breaking, 149-date <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/thepitch\/review-the-secondhand-thrills-of-taylor-swifts-eras-tour-concert-movie\/\">Eras Tour<\/a>, which reportedly grossed <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/taylor-swift-grossed-over-2-billion-in-ticket-sales-on-eras-tour\/\">over $2 billion<\/a> in ticket sales and spawned both a <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/taylor-swift-announces-eras-tour-book\/\">companion book<\/a> and a <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/taylor-swift-announces-eras-tour-concert-film\/\">three-hour concert film<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In May, Swift announced that had <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/taylor-swift-regains-control-of-master-recordings\/\">bought back<\/a> the master recordings for her first six studio albums, which she\u2019d been steadily re-recording as the <em>Taylor\u2019s Version<\/em> series. She ended up releasing new versions of <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/reviews\/albums\/taylor-swift-fearless-taylors-version\/\"><em>Fearless<\/em><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/reviews\/albums\/taylor-swift-red-taylors-version\/\"><em>Red<\/em><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/reviews\/albums\/taylor-swift-speak-now-taylors-version\/\"><em>Speak Now<\/em><\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/reviews\/albums\/taylor-swift-1989-taylors-version\/\"><em>1989<\/em><\/a> between 2021 and 2023.
