\n\tTaylor Swift<\/a>\u2018s twelfth album\u00a0The Life of a Showgirl<\/a><\/em>\u00a0is finally here<\/a> and it features a long-anticipated collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter<\/a>. <\/p>\n \n\tCarpenter, the only guest vocalist on the LP, joins Swift on the title track, \u201cThe Life of a Showgirl.\u201d The mid-tempo pop songs recounts the story of a woman named Kitty, who \u201cmade her money being pretty and witty.\u201d The singers join voices as they embody Kitty, crooning, \u201cHey, thank you for the lovely bouquet\/ You\u2019re sweeter than a peach\/ But you don\u2019t know the life of a showgirl, babe\/ And you\u2019re never ever gonna.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tAs the song closes, Swift intones, \u201cGive it up for the band, the dancers, and, of course, Sabrina.\u201d Carpenter chimes in, \u201cI love you, Taylor!\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cThe Life of a Showgirl\u201d marks Swift and Carpenter\u2019s first song together. The rumored collaboration was officially confirmed in August when Swift shared the album\u2019s set list. Carpenter responded on Instagram<\/a>, writing, \u201cI know someone who\u2019s freaking out and it\u2019s me.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tA feature on Swift\u2019s 12th album would be a big deal for anyone, but it\u2019s especially momentous for Carpenter, who has idolized the superstar for years. \u201cI hold her to such a different echelon,\u201d she told\u00a0Rolling Stone<\/a><\/em>\u00a0last year. \u201cI could never compare my life, my career, my trajectory to anything close to what she\u2019s done.\u201d Back in 2009, around when Carpenter first started uploading YouTube covers of popular songs, she delivered a passionate rendition of Swift\u2019s \u201cPicture to Burn.\u201d<\/p>\n
