\n\tLast year, Hardy<\/a> recorded a cover of the 1975<\/a>\u2019s song \u201cLove It If We Made It\u201d<\/a> and has since been performing it during his shows on the Jim Bob World Tour.<\/p>\n \n\tOriginally released on the 1975\u2019s 2018 album A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships<\/em>, the song is full of cultural and political references, from athletes taking a knee during performances of the National Anthem to protests against police brutality and even an allusion to the Donald Trump Access Hollywood tape<\/em>. The song is a curious choice for Hardy, which led some country fans to ask if he was trying to send a message.<\/p>\n \n\tWe asked him just that during his appearance on Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2019s Nashville Now<\/a><\/em> podcast, and Hardy replied simply, \u201cNope.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI just like the song. I knew it was a risky move, but I just love the song,\u201d Hardy says. \u201cI think it\u2019s cool and those lyrics are so metaphorical that\u2026 my fans, they can go Google the song and go Google what all the shit means, but whatever. I literally took it at face value and said, \u2018This is a cool song, I like, it, let\u2019s do it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tBut Hardy, who just released his new album Country! Country! <\/a><\/em>last week, admits that it was eye-opening once he did a deep dive into the lyrics of Matty Healy, co-writer of the song and the 1975\u2019s frontman. \u201cI really didn\u2019t know what I was getting into until I committed to that song,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n \n\tHardy also talked at length about what he\u2019s listening to these days with Nashville Now<\/em>.
