\n\tBruce Springsteen<\/a> stopped by Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> Live! <\/em>Thursday night to offer some much-needed words of hope \u2014 and also talk about the one time he tried doing karaoke.<\/p>\n \n\tNear the end of the interview \u2014 which was conducted alongside Bruce biopic star Jeremy Allen White<\/a> \u2014 Kimmel asked Springsteen if he would mind sharing a few thoughts about the state of the country<\/a> and the world. Springsteen obliged, with a statement that was at once concise and powerful.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cFifty years, I\u2019ve been kind of a musical ambassador for America around the world,\u201d he said. \u201cI have this song, \u2018Land of Hope and Dreams,\u2019<\/a> which is kind of a prayer to the country, and we play it every night. I know for a fact that that\u2019s how many people around the world still see our country. Not as a land of fear, not as a divisiveness, not of <\/a>government censorship<\/a>, not of hatred. And I basically believe that that\u2019s an America that\u2019s worth fighting for.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe rest of the interview, of course, was not as heavy. Springsteen and White largely chatted about Deliver Me From Nowhere<\/em><\/a>; Springsteen recalled the story of how he stole the title for \u201cBorn in the U.S.A.\u201d<\/a> from a script sent to him by the filmmaker Paul Schrader; and he spoke about the upcoming Nebraska \u201982<\/em> box set<\/a>, which will contain the long-fabled <\/a>electric version of the album recorded by the E-Street Band<\/a>.<\/p>\n
