Back in August, former<\/a> Pixies<\/a> bassist Paz Lenchantin<\/a> announced her return with a solo album, Triste<\/em><\/a>. Soon after the news went live, listeners<\/a> on Reddit<\/a> and YouTube<\/a> noted glaring similarities between the lead single, \u201cHang Tough,\u201d and Chico Buarque and Milton Nascimento<\/a>\u2019s Brazilian classic \u201cC\u00e1lice.\u201d It turns out the song\u2019s authors, Buarque and the Tropical\u00eda<\/a> legend Gilberto Gil<\/a>, were listening, too. In August, the duo filed a notice accusing Lenchantin of plagiarizing \u201cCalice,\u201d as reported in the Brazilian newspaper Folha de S. Paulo<\/em><\/a>. Lenchantin, who was born in Argentina, made no public comment, but the song has since been removed from streaming services and the album tracklist displays another song title.<\/p>\n

Reached by Pitchfork through a representative, Lenchantin declined to comment. Her label, Hideous Human<\/a>, will release Triste<\/em> tomorrow, October 17.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
