Ella Langley<\/a>‘s “Choosing Texas” is a good old-fashioned country heartbreaker\u00a0\u2014 though when it’s coming from this artist, many fans will read some autobiography into the lyrics.<\/p>\n Langley has been rumored to be at the center of a real-life triangle with her two-time duet partner Riley Green<\/a> and fellow country singer Megan Moroney<\/a>.<\/p>\n Gossip swirled around the three singers between late 2024 and mid-2025, with the theory being that Green and Langley might’ve gotten flirty around the time they recorded “You Look Like You Love Me”\u00a0\u2014 and that Green later dated Moroney.<\/p>\n None of those romances were ever confirmed, and in fact, all three parties outright denied them.<\/p>\n READ MORE<\/em>: Fans Think Megan Moroney + Ella Langley Both Commented On the Riley Green Rumors Onstage<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n But social media sleuths have worked diligently to prove there’s more to the story than the artists are saying. That includes this particular song release.<\/p>\n When Langley shared the single art<\/a> for “Choosing Texas,” some pointed out that the artwork\u00a0\u2014 a man and a blonde woman driving away in a top-down convertible\u00a0\u2014 looked a whole lot like this fan-snapped photo<\/a> of two people believed to be Green and Moroney going for a joyride in small-town Alabama.<\/p>\n Of course, Langley’s artwork also includes a road sign reading “Welcome to Amarillo,” and no one involved in the rumor is from Texas.<\/p>\n A more plausible explanation for the focus on the Lone Star State?\u00a0Miranda Lambert<\/a> is a co-writer on the song, and she sings backing vocals, too.<\/p>\n If you’re digging into this song hoping to get some tea on the Riley Green theory, sorry for your luck. There’s nothing here that sheds any kind of light on those rumors.<\/p>\n At best, you could argue that it’s an especially gracious heartbreak song, with no bad blood for the other woman involved.<\/p>\n Think less Carrie Underwood<\/a>‘s “Before He Cheats,” more Dolly Parton<\/a>‘s “Jolene.” Langley’s lyrics are sad about the way things ended, but she’s not blaming anybody. In some ways, she sings, she should’ve known all along that things would end this way.<\/p>\n Still, it’s worth it to do a lyrical deep dive on this song.
