Sabrina Carpenter<\/a> was the host and musical guest on last night\u2019s (October 18) episode of Saturday Night Live<\/em>, where she performed songs from her new album Man\u2019s Best Friend<\/em><\/a>. Dressed in SNL<\/em>-themed underwear, Carpenter sang the single \u201cManchild<\/a>\u201d into a hairbrush; later, she donned a gi and did some karate for the album track \u201cNobody\u2019s Son.\u201d Carpenter also starred in sketches throughout the evening as a 12-year-old boy podcast host<\/a>, a girlboss motivational speaker<\/a> who suffers a head injury, and a singing washing machine<\/a>.<\/p>\n In her opening monologue, Carpenter addressed the controversy around the Man\u2019s Best Friend<\/em> album cover. \u201cWhat people don\u2019t realize is that\u2019s just how they cropped it,\u201d she joked. \u201cIf you zoom out it\u2019s clearly a picture from the [Saturday Night Live<\/em>] 50th anniversary special of Bowen [Yang] helping me up by the hair after Martin Short shoved me out of the buffet line, saying something like \u2018Daddy need his mini quiche.\u2019\u201d Carpenter also touched on her brand as a \u201chorndog popstar\u201d\u2014\u201cI\u2019m not just horny, I\u2019m also turned on, and sexually charged\u201d\u2014did some sexually charged crowd work, and was nearly arrested by Keenan Thompson. She first stopped by Studio 8H as musical guest on the heels of her 2024 album Short n\u2019 Sweet<\/em><\/a>, and was a part of SNL50: The Anniversary Special<\/em><\/a>, where she performed a duet of the Simon & Garfunkel<\/a> song \u201cHomeward Bound\u201d alongside Paul Simon<\/a>. On Thursday, Carpenter will kick off a run of North American arena shows<\/a>, with stops in Pittsburgh, New York, Nashville, Toronto, and Los Angeles.<\/p>\n Season 51 of Saturday Night Live<\/em> premiered on October 4. The season debut<\/a> was hosted by Bad Bunny<\/a>, with Doja Cat<\/a> serving as musical guest.
