Brown\u2019s description stands in stark contrast to the housekeeper\u2019s own harrowing account of what happened. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIn her lawsuit and related filings, housekeeper Maria Avila says she was removing trash from Brown\u2019s house on Dec. 12, 2020, when a large brown dog \u201cviciously\u201d attacked her, ripping chunks of flesh and even bone from her face and arm as she \u201cscreamed in terror and called out for help.\u201d Avila alleges Brown came outside, stood over her while speaking on a cell phone, and then \u201cfled the scene as [she] lay on the driveway in a pool of blood, bleeding to death.\u201d (Avila says she required emergency surgery and now lives with extensive disfigurement, nerve damage, and loss of vision.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tFor years, Brown has been fighting the lawsuit and a related complaint from Avila\u2019s sister, Patricia, who was also at the house that day and allegedly ran outside to find her sister \u201ccovered in blood while she was screaming and crying for help.\u201d In the excerpts of Brown\u2019s April deposition filed with the court Monday, Brown says he heard no screaming, saw no blood, at least initially, and only left the house because his manager advised him to do so once it was clear that paramedics were on their way.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAsked how the terrifying incident unfolded, Brown said he was in his upstairs bedroom when he heard the dog, named Hades, growling outside. \u201cHearing the actual growl is what actually shocked me, to make me go downstairs,\u201d he answered. I bent down and I looked. I was \u2013 I was making sure she was breathing and then from there, I ran and put the dogs away and yelled and told the security guard to come over,\u201d Brown testified under oath. Asked how he could be certain Avila was breathing, Brown said it was clear. \u201cI could see her chest moving,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAsked if he could remember saying anything to Avila, Brown said he didn\u2019t speak to her. \u201cNo. Because she was \u2013 she was out. It was no communication,\u201d he testified. \u201cI got security to make sure she was okay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tBrown said that after he rounded up all three of his dogs, including Hades, who was acting \u201cnervous,\u201d he called his manager while his security guard was allegedly on the phone with a 911 dispatcher.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cMr. Wilson told you to get the hell out of there, right?\u201d Avila\u2019s lawyer asked, to which Brown responded, \u201cyes, ma\u2019am.\u201d The lawyer then asked if Brown felt \u201cbad\u201d about leaving his house under those circumstances.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cI\u2019m not bad \u2013 I\u2019m not feeling bad about leaving the house, more concerned about \u2013 about her, making sure she was okay,\u201d he responded. Brown recalled that Avila\u2019s sister was outside by that point, and that someone, possibly the sister, brought Avila a towel. He said Avila was turned by the time he left, though he wasn\u2019t sure how she ended up in the new position.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cI didn\u2019t see blood initially. I think I saw blood a little bit. I was kind of squeamish with blood, so like I think when \u2013 once I seen like she had \u2013 there was blood somewhere, I kind of \u2013 kind of didn\u2019t all the way look. I didn\u2019t want to \u2013 I didn\u2019t want to see the damage or whatever that happened,\u201d he testified. Brown said he would have let his manager handle the situation had he known. He said the dog actually belonged to his head of security and was living on his property as a deterrent to potential stalkers or home invaders.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIn her own deposition conducted in October 2023, Avila said the dog pounced on her without warning. \u201cIt attacked me on my face, my hand, and it pierced its teeth on my foot,\u201d she said. \u201cI didn\u2019t see it, I simply felt it \u2013 it was something really big.\u201d \u00a0Asked if she saw Brown take the dog away, Avila said no, though she believed it was Brown who called 911. She said from there, \u201cI only heard the car that left.\u201d She disputed Brown\u2019s claim that she was told not to go outside the house without permission.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIn his motion filed Monday, Brown argues that Avila failed to substantiate her claim that Brown acted with malice or engaged in any \u201coutrageous conduct.\u201d For that reason, her claims for emotional distress and punitive damages should be dismissed before trial, he says. Avila\u2019s lawyer, Nancy Doumanian, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Avila\u2019s lawsuit and the related negligence complaint filed by her sister have been consolidated into the same trial set for Feb. 9, 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tBrown\u2019s new motion to dismiss the punitive and emotional damages claims has a hearing set for Jan. 15. Maria\u2019s husband is a co-plaintiff in her lawsuit. He claims the harm to his wife caused him \u201closs of consortium damages.\u201d Brown, meanwhile, is being sued alongside his company, Black Pyramid, LLC.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cDefendants anticipate that plaintiffs will point to defendants\u2019 post-incident conduct in support of their punitive damages claim. The intent was not to \u2018conceal\u2019 or \u2018destroy\u2019 evidence but rather to prevent the risk of future harm.
