{"id":49899,"date":"2025-10-23T18:16:57","date_gmt":"2025-10-23T18:16:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2025\/10\/23\/black-thought-hypes-new-album-streams-of-thought-vol-4-its-my-opus\/"},"modified":"2025-10-23T18:16:57","modified_gmt":"2025-10-23T18:16:57","slug":"black-thought-hypes-new-album-streams-of-thought-vol-4-its-my-opus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2025\/10\/23\/black-thought-hypes-new-album-streams-of-thought-vol-4-its-my-opus\/","title":{"rendered":"Black Thought Hypes New Album &#8216;Streams Of Thought Vol. 4&#8217;: &#8220;It&#8217;s My Opus&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/artist\/black-thought\">Black Thought<\/a>\u2018s <em>Streams of Thought Vol. 4<\/em> is an album you don\u2019t want to sleep on \u2014 according to the man himself, anyway.<\/p>\n<p>During a sit-down with <a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/artist\/redman\/\">Redman<\/a> for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/black-thought-roots-redman-hip-hop-interview-1235443718\/\"><em>Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a>\u2018s \u201cMusicians On Musicians\u201d series, the legendary <a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/artistthe-roots\">Roots<\/a> lyricist shed light on his upcoming solo project and did little to dampen excitement for it, crowning it his \u201copus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn many ways, I feel like it\u2019s my opus. It has the most features, the most elaborate beats, crazy samples,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n<p>Black Thought also explained the lengthy delay behind the album, which is part of the series of solo efforts he began dropping in 2018. (The most recent one, <a class=\"underline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/news\/id.57545\/title.black-thought-pusha-t-killer-mike-to-square-off-with-swizz-beatz-over-sean-c-produced-good-morning\"><em>Streams of Thought Vol. 3<\/em><\/a>, arrived in 2020.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPart of that is the problem, trying to get all this stuff cleared,\u201d he said of the seemingly complicated sample clearance process.<\/p>\n<p><iframe class=\"optanon-category-C0003\" title=\"Black Thought &amp; Redman | Musicians on Musicians\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/F0nmscXa7nA?start=120&amp;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The Philly native has been teasing <em>Streams of Thought Vol. 4 <\/em>for years and previously revealed some of the tantalazing features that fans can look forward to.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have features with the usual suspects like <a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/artist\/pharoahe-monch\">Pharoahe Monch<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/artist\/yasiin-bey\">Yasiin Bey<\/a>. I even have Redman and <a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/artist\/fabolous\">Fabolous<\/a> on there for the East Coast sensibilities. But then I have <a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/artist\/tobe-nwigwe\">Tobe Nwigwe<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/artist\/big-krit\">Big K.R.I.T.<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/artist\/currensy\">Curren$y<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/artist\/rick-ross\">Rick Ross<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/artist\/jid\">JID<\/a>,\u201d he told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.levelman.com\/black-thought-is-loved-and-feared-by-your-favorite-rapper-89e179cf3b3f\/\"><em>LEVEL<\/em><\/a> in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone ain\u2019t gonna get an opportunity to jump on a joint with me. You have to be able to hold your own, and it has to feel seamless. That\u2019s what <em>Streams of Thought, Vol. 4<\/em> is. I listened to it this morning. It\u2019s only 30 minutes, but it\u2019s crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Black Thought is especially excited about his collaboration with Yasiin Bey (f.k.a. Mos Def), with whom he\u2019s formed undeniable chemistry on the mic over the years (see: The Roots \u201cDouble Trouble\u201d and \u201cRising Down,\u201d Black Star \u201cFreequency\u201d and \u201cRespiration [Pete Rock Remix],\u201d Freddie Gibbs and Madlib \u201cEducation\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018Blaaaaack!\u2019 became the first song I recorded, me and Yasiin Bey,\u201d he told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefader.com\/2023\/04\/11\/black-thought-the-fader-interview-news-post\"><em>The FADER<\/em><\/a> in 2023. \u201cIt\u2019s a timeless classic. It\u2019s been in my vault for a couple years already.
