{"id":50176,"date":"2025-10-27T16:07:29","date_gmt":"2025-10-27T16:07:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2025\/10\/27\/jameson-rodgers-sued-for-allegedly-hurting-fan-with-beer-can\/"},"modified":"2025-10-27T16:07:29","modified_gmt":"2025-10-27T16:07:29","slug":"jameson-rodgers-sued-for-allegedly-hurting-fan-with-beer-can","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2025\/10\/27\/jameson-rodgers-sued-for-allegedly-hurting-fan-with-beer-can\/","title":{"rendered":"Jameson Rodgers Sued for Allegedly Hurting Fan With Beer Can"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tasteofcountry.com\/tags\/jameson-rodgers\" target=\"_blank\">Jameson Rodgers<\/a> is embroiled in a personal injury lawsuit after he allegedly struck a fan with a full, unopened beer can while performing at New Jersey&#8217;s Barefoot Country Music Festival in June 2022.<\/p>\n<p>According to the lawsuit, Rodgers threw cans of Miller Lite beer into the crowd from the stage during his performance.<\/p>\n<p>Plaintiff Samantha Haws says one of those cans struck her &#8220;violently and without warning in the head and facial area,&#8221; according to\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/pro\/jameson-rodgers-lawsuit-sony-beer-can-case\/\" target=\"_blank\">Billboard<\/a><\/em>, and caused &#8220;severe, painful and permanent bodily injuries.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit was <a href=\"https:\/\/trellis.law\/case\/34009\/cpml000202-24\/haws-samantha-vs-rodgers-jameson\" target=\"_blank\">first filed<\/a> in May 2024, and proceeded pretty quietly for over a year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ MORE: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/tasteofcountry.com\/country-music-scandals\/\" target=\"_blank\">The 17 Biggest Country Music Scandals<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But the case is in the news this week after an appeals court ruled that Sony Music\u2014Rodgers&#8217; label, and one of the defendants listed in the lawsuit\u2014must remain involved.<\/p>\n<p>Sony filed to remove itself as a defendant on the grounds that the label doesn&#8217;t have jurisdiction over the festival or security proceedings. But the court decided that Sony will continue to be a defendant, since Rodgers could be determined to be acting as an &#8220;agent&#8221; of his label during his performance.<\/p>\n<p>As noted via a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.njcourts.gov\/system\/files\/court-opinions\/2025\/a1676-24.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">case update<\/a> from Oct. 22, Molson Coors d\/b\/a Miller Brewing Company\u2014AKA the brand of beer that Rodgers allegedly threw from the stage\u2014is also a defendant in the lawsuit.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Who Is Jameson Rodgers?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>A Mississippi native who began pursuing a music career in Nashville in 2010, Rodgers first gained traction in the industry as a songwriter. He wrote songs for acts such as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tasteofcountry.com\/tags\/florida-georgia-line\" target=\"_blank\">Florida Georgia Line<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/tasteofcountry.com\/tags\/luke-bryan\" target=\"_blank\">Luke Bryan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>His first hit as a recording artist came with the single &#8220;Some Girls,&#8221; which hit the top of the\u00a0<em>Billboard<\/em> Country Airplay chart in October 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Rodgers went on to release a duet with <a href=\"https:\/\/tasteofcountry.com\/tags\/luke-combs\" target=\"_blank\">Luke Combs<\/a>, &#8220;Cold Beer Calling My Name,&#8221; which was also a No. 1 hit on the Country Airplay chart. He also toured as Combs&#8217; opening act in 2019.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Objects Being Thrown on Stage Is a Big Problem at Country Concerts<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Airborne objects at shows\u2014and their potential to harm someone\u2014are a hot topic in the country genre, though typically it&#8217;s a fan in the crowd who&#8217;s throwing something toward the stage.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tasteofcountry.com\/tags\/luke-bryan\" target=\"_blank\">Luke Bryan<\/a> says he&#8217;s had everything from <a href=\"https:\/\/tasteofcountry.com\/luke-bryan-fans-throwing-stuff-onstage\/\" target=\"_blank\">beach balls to cell phones<\/a> thrown at him while performing, while\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tasteofcountry.com\/tags\/zach-bryan\" target=\"_blank\">Zach Bryan<\/a>\u00a0once had a <a href=\"https:\/\/tasteofcountry.com\/zach-bryan-stops-show-zyn-can\/\" target=\"_blank\">Zyn can<\/a> hurled at him during a show.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tasteofcountry.com\/tags\/morgan-wallen\" target=\"_blank\">Morgan Wallen<\/a> has been a target, too, and he&#8217;s got a particularly pointed response lined up for situations like this one: He <a href=\"https:\/\/tasteofcountry.com\/morgan-wallen-concert-fan-throws-phone-on-stage\/\" target=\"_blank\">tosses the object back out<\/a> into the crowd\u2014but in the opposite direction from where it came from.
