However, Nicks admits throughout her portion that that the two are friendly again. While remembering the moment they met in 1966, when they were students at Menlo-Atherton High School in the Bay Area, Nicks said, \u201cLindsey and I started talking about it last night. This whole thing seems really like yesterday to us.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-spotify wp-block-embed-spotify\">\n<p>\n<iframe title=\"Spotify Embed: Buckingham Nicks - Frozen Love\" style=\"border-radius: 12px\" width=\"100%\" height=\"152\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/episode\/62ErHfsrH9mS52QtGs6clS?si=ac24ae2e38cc48fa&amp;nd=1&amp;dlsi=5637912209fd429d&amp;utm_source=oembed\"><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThey describe their origin story, when they attended a youth group social and Nicks backed Buckingham on \u201cCalifornia Dreamin.&#8217;\u201d But they didn\u2019t formally meet until a couple of years later, when they joined the band Fritz. They found success opening for Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin, but producer Keith Olsen told them they\u2019d have better success as a duo.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cKeith was extremely supportive, but Fritz was never able to secure a record deal,\u201d Buckingham says, while Nicks adds that it was \u201cterrorizing\u201d for them. \u201cWe loved these guys,\u201d she said. \u201cSo we were not at all happy about that, but there was nothing we could do \u2026It was our first super disappointment in the music business.\u201d But, she also added, it was bittersweet: \u201cIt was an invitation to greatness, and we both knew it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tNicks says she and Buckingham probably wouldn\u2019t have dated if they hadn\u2019t fired Fritz. \u201cIt drove us together, because we just couldn\u2019t figure it out,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd then we fell in love with each other, and that was it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThey hunkered down to write<em> Buckingham Nicks<\/em>, and reflected on creating the final track, \u201cFrozen Love.\u201d \u201cThe song is about two people that were in love, that had a lot of differences and saw the world slightly differently, but had this like relationship that seemed to be, like a gift,\u201d Nicks said. \u201cI like to think of it as <em>Wuthering Heights<\/em> or <em>Great Expectations<\/em> \u2014 a modern day love affair, tragedies. Because nobody really loves happy songs. I\u2019m sorry, Lindsey. And I\u2019m going, \u2018What is going on here?\u2019 And so the song finishes, and Keith says, \u2018Oh, Lindsey, this is Mick Fleetwood.\u2019\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tLast fall, Nicks <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/stevie-nicks-fleetwood-mac-kamala-harris-new-music-1235140437\/\">told<em> Rolling Stone<\/em> <\/a>she last spoke to Buckingham at Christine McVie\u2019s celebration of life, and would never consider a proper farewell Fleetwood Mac tour. \u201cThe only time I\u2019ve spoken to Lindsey was there, for about three minutes,\u201d she said. \u201cI dealt with Lindsey for as long as I could.
