Geragos said the low-security prison would allow Combs to \u201caddress drug abuse issues\u201d and \u201cmaximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tCombs, 55, recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/sean-combs-notice-appeal-conviction-prison-sentence-1235450870\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/sean-combs-notice-appeal-conviction-prison-sentence-1235450870\/\">filed his formal notice<\/a> that he\u2019s appealing his conviction and sentence, so the prison\u2019s location, about 80 miles south of Manhattan, positions him relatively close to his New York-based legal team. Other high-profile inmates who served time at Fort Dix include convicted fraudster and <a data-id=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/culture\/culture-news\/martin-shkreli-sentenced-to-seven-years-in-prison-126910\/\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/culture\/culture-news\/martin-shkreli-sentenced-to-seven-years-in-prison-126910\/\">so-called \u201cPharma Bro\u201d Martin Shkreli<\/a>, and <em>Real Housewives of New Jersey<\/em> star Joe Giudice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAccording to ABC News, Combs is being housed in a drug program unit away from the prison\u2019s general population.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tCombs was sentenced to four years and two months in prison on Oct. 3. His two Mann Act convictions had carried the threat of a combined maximum of 20 years in prison. The Bad Boy Records founder already has served more than a year in custody after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/sean-combs-arrested-grand-jury-indictment-1234998531\/\">he was arrested<\/a> in New York in September 2024. Considering federal inmates can earn \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ussc.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/pdf\/research-and-publications\/research-publications\/2020\/202009_fed-sentencing-basics.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">good-time credit<\/a>\u201d of up to 54 days per year, Combs could potentially shave about seven months off his sentence with good behavior. That means Combs could be looking at a release date in the Spring of 2028.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tWhile Combs was convicted of the two prostitution-related charges, he was acquitted of his three most serious counts involving an alleged racketeering conspiracy and the alleged sex trafficking of two ex-girlfriends: the R&amp;B singer Casandra \u201cCassie\u201d Ventura; and a woman who testified under the pseudonym Jane.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tFor his conviction, prosecutors sought a sentence of more than 11 years in prison. Federal probation officials set a guidelines range of about six to seven years.
