\n\tWhile Arcade Fire<\/a> will remain in tact, Win Butler<\/a> and R\u00e9gine Chassagne\u2019s marriage will not, the band members revealed in a social media statement on Thursday, Oct. 30. \u201cAfter a long and loving marriage, Win & R\u00e9gine have decided to separate,\u201d the joint statement read. \u201cThey continue to love, admire and support each other as they co-parent their son.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tButler and Chassagne married in 2003 and welcomed their first child <\/a>in April 2013. In 2022, Butler admitted to having extramarital relationships <\/a>following a string of misconduct allegations <\/a>pertaining to emotional abuse, sexual assault, and manipulation from five people, though Butler denied that any of those relations were nonconsensual. At the time, Chassagne publicly stood beside Butler.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cWin is my soulmate, my songwriting partner, my husband, the father of my beautiful boy. He has been my partner in life and in music for 20 years,\u201d Chassagne said in 2022. \u201cAnd for all of the love in our lives, I have also watched him suffer through immense pain\u2026 I know what is in his heart, and I know he has never, and would never, touch a woman without her consent and I am certain he never did. He has lost his way and he has found his way back. I love him and love the life we have created together.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tIn his own statement regarding the matter, Butler said, \u201cR\u00e9gine waited patiently watching me suffer and tried to help me as best as she could. I know it must have been so hard for her to watch the person she loved so lost.\u201d <\/p>\n
