D\u2019Angelo<\/a>\u2018s life and legacy was celebrated at a private funeral service in Virginia this past weekend.<\/p>\n The legendary singer, who passed away at the age of 51<\/a> due to pancreatic cancer, was laid to rest on Saturday (November 1) at Saint Paul\u2019s Baptist Church in his birthplace of Richmond.<\/p>\n According to the order of service, images of which surfaced online, the funeral featured tribute performances from Stevie Wonder<\/a> as well as D\u2019Angelo\u2019s former bands The Soultronics and The Vanguard.<\/p>\n The Soultronics, which supported D\u2019Angelo on his Voodoo Tour in the early 2000s, included the likes of Questlove, James Poyser and Pino Palladino, while The Vanguard is credited on D\u2019s final album, 2014\u2019s Black Messiah<\/em>.<\/p>\n Bishop Ralland V. Robinson conducted the service, while Pastor Jamal Bryant appeared in a special video tribute.
