\n\tThe Road<\/em>, CBS\u2019s new country-music competition series, is three weeks into its run and Gretchen Wilson<\/a> still has trouble believing she\u2019s part of a Taylor Sheridan<\/a> series.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWho would have thought after all these years of making music, I\u2019d end up on major network television?\u201d Wilson tells Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2019s Nashville Now<\/a><\/em> podcast.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Road<\/em>, created by Yellowstone<\/em> mastermind<\/a> Sheridan, follows a group of singer as they learn the ins and outs of the touring life and open shows for host Keith Urban. Wilson appears as the contestants\u2019 \u201ctour manager\u201d and advises them as they compete for a cash prize, an opening slot at the 2026 Stagecoach music festival, and a recording contract.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis show follows these individuals much more closely than any show you\u2019ve seen like it. And it\u2019s a lot more real life. We\u2019re putting them on tour buses, taking them across the country, putting them in bars. It\u2019s not a built-in audience,\u201d Wilson says. \u201cIt\u2019s a lot more realistic to what it really is to be on tour and to be on the road.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAccording to Wilson, that the show comes from Sheridan gives it an extra edge: \u201cHaving Taylor Sheridan involved in this is what makes it completely different than anything else like it. He has this magic touch of putting all those cameras behind the scenes, where I don\u2019t think anybody else is really comfortable going, and showing all of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWilson, who skyrocketed to fame in 2004 with her breakout single \u201cRedneck Woman,\u201d says she doesn\u2019t have any designs to be on Yellowstone<\/em>. She\u2019s more a fan of Sheridan\u2019s Lioness<\/em> \u2014 even if she once stumbled over its name.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI was trying to list a few of his shows, and one of my favorites is Lioness<\/em>,\u201d she says. \u201cAnd then there\u2019s Tulsa King<\/em> too \u2014\u00a0I said The Lion King<\/em>. But, I mean, he might as well have that too.\u201d<\/p>\n
