Diane Ladd<\/strong>, the beloved actress known for her powerhouse performances in Alice Doesn\u2019t Live Here Anymore<\/em>, Chinatown<\/em>, and Wild at Heart<\/em>, has died. She was 89.<\/p>\n On Monday (Nov. 3), Ladd\u2019s daughter \u2014 actress Laura Dern<\/strong> \u2014 confirmed her mother\u2019s passing in a heartfelt statement.<\/p>\n \u201cMy amazing hero and my profound gift of a mother passed with me beside her this morning at her home in Ojai, Calif.,” Dern shared.<\/p>\n “She was the greatest daughter, mother, grandmother, actress, artist, and empathetic spirit that only dreams could have seemingly created. We were blessed to have her,” the actress continued. “She is flying with her angels now.\u201d<\/p>\n Born Rose Diane Ladner in Laurel, Mississippi, on Nov. 29, 1935, Ladd was raised by a veterinarian father and an actress mother.<\/p>\n Her talent and passion for the arts came naturally \u2014 she even counted legendary playwright Tennessee Williams among her relatives.<\/p>\n Ladd married actor Bruce Dern in 1960, and the couple welcomed two children before divorcing in 1969.<\/p>\n Their daughter, Laura Dern, followed in their footsteps \u2014 and became one of Hollywood\u2019s most celebrated stars.<\/p>\n \u201cHe wasn\u2019t such a great husband, but he\u2019s a really great actor,\u201d Ladd joked in 2023<\/a>. \u201cWe stayed friends.\u201d<\/p>\n Ladd\u2019s screen presence was unforgettable \u2014 and her r\u00e9sum\u00e9 reflected it.
