It was delayed until September and is now scheduled for a March 31 release on Amazon. But in a lawsuit filed on Nov. 3 in the United States District Court for the District of Arizona, Niven claims that Guns N&#8217; Roses \u2014 particularly frontman<a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/axl-rose\" target=\"_blank\"> Axl Rose<\/a> \u2014 have\u00a0made threats to Niven and publisher ECW Press\u00a0to thwart the\u00a0release of the book.<\/p>\n<h3>Details of Alan Niven&#8217;s Lawsuit Against Guns N&#8217; Roses<\/h3>\n<p>Niven \u2014 a music industry veteran who\u00a0worked with <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/motley-crue\/\" target=\"_blank\">Motley Crue<\/a> in their early days and managed both Guns N&#8217; Roses and <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/great-white\" target=\"_blank\">Great White<\/a> \u2014\u00a0summarized the contents of\u00a0<em>Sound N&#8217; Fury<\/em>\u00a0and detailed the reasons for its delay in his lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Sound N&#8217; Fury<\/em> consists of anecdotes about\u00a0[Niven&#8217;s] career, including distributing the first <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/sex-pistols\" target=\"_blank\">Sex Pistols<\/a> singles in the U.S., cooking a dinner for guitarist <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/robert-fripp\/\" target=\"_blank\">Robert Fripp<\/a>, going to bat for a scruffy musician named Frank Feranna (later known as <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/nikki-sixx\" target=\"_blank\">Nikki Sixx<\/a>) and reinventing Great White twice,&#8221; the\u00a0complaint reads. &#8220;It also includes stories involving the members [of] GNR, while he represented the five individuals who made up the classic lineup of the band.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It continues: &#8220;Now, however, due to GNR&#8217;s threats,\u00a0<em>Sound N&#8217; Fury<\/em> languishes in a warehouse. In a letter written in May 2025, GNR invoked the confidentiality clause in its 1991 buyout Agreement with Niven (the &#8216;Agreement&#8217;) and has blocked publication of the book through repeated threats to Niven and contact with ECW [<em>Sound N&#8217; Fury<\/em>&#8216;s publisher].&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit says that &#8220;GNR takes this position despite the following facts (among others): the Agreement was not signed by all of its members (a material term); GNR&#8217;s members have commented publicly on Niven; one member encouraged him to write the book; and he has been speaking about his time in GNR for over a decade.\u00a0<em>Sound N&#8217; Fury<\/em>&#8216;s publication has been delayed for months, even though it received a favorable review from the\u00a0<em>Los Angeles Times<\/em> and has received many preorders.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ MORE:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/guns-n-roses-former-manager-cuts-illusion-down-to-one-album\/\" target=\"_blank\">Guns N&#8217; Roses&#8217; Former Manager Cuts &#8216;Use Your Illusion&#8217; Down to 1 Album<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Niven often butted heads with Rose during his tenure as GNR&#8217;s manager, which ended in 1991.\u00a0&#8220;It was Axl&#8217;s battle to take complete control and most of the money.
