The institution celebrated her incomparable blend of New Wave, synth-pop, and heartfelt ballads, a mix that spawned career-defining hits like \u201cGirls Just Want to Have Fun\u201d and \u201cTime After Time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tLauper was introduced by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/chappell-roan-killers-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame-ceremony-1235455537\/\">Chappell Roan<\/a>, an artist with similar torch-bearing qualities and an unmistakable head of hair. She continued the performance with the 1984 classic \u201cTime After Time,\u201d accompanied by British singer Raye. The two of them switched off each line, coming together for the chorus. Her first thought wasn\u2019t what the honor represents for herself, but what it means to join the legion of women who paved the way for her and those who will follow. \u201cIt\u2019s wonderful to be part of that legacy,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAfter waiting more than a decade and a half, Lauper\u2019s induction fell right into place.
