Last night, at the annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony<\/a> in Cleveland, Ohio, Soundgarden<\/a> were inducted by Jim Carrey. The \u201990s grunge rockers were joined by Brandi Carlile<\/a>, Taylor Momsen, and members of Pearl Jam<\/a> and Alice in Chains<\/a> to perform \u201cRusty Chain\u201d and \u201cBlack Hole Sun.\u201d Toni Cornell, the daughter of late Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell<\/a>, also sang an acoustic rendition of \u201cFell on Black Days,\u201d with accompaniment from Heart\u2019s Nancy Wilson. Watch it all go down below.<\/p>\n In 1996, Carrey hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live<\/em> with Soundgarden as the musical guests. While inducting the band, he told a story of being gifted Cornell\u2019s guitar after the show. \u201cWhen I heard Soundgarden for the first time, I wasn\u2019t just excited,\u201d Carrey shared. \u201cI wanted to put a flannel shirt on and run into the streets screaming, \u2018My mother smoked during pregnancy!’\u201d<\/p>\n Carrey also brought out Cornell\u2019s other daughter, Lily, who said of her father, \u201cI know how much purpose that gave him, and how much it\u2019s meant to people who have heard that music. That\u2019s what I\u2019ll be holding in my heart tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n Following their performance, guitarist Kim Thayil, drummer Matt Cameron, and bassists Ben Shepherd and Hiro Yamomoto all gave speeches. \u201cChris Cornell, we are so missing you tonight on this stage,\u201d Yamamoto said. “Thanks to my parents, whose story as American citizens who were rounded up and placed into prison camps, just for being Japanese during World War II\u2014well, that affected my life greatly, and it really echoes strongly today. Let\u2019s not add another story like this to our history.\u201d<\/p>\n This year\u2019s other Rock Hall inductees<\/a> are the White Stripes<\/a>, OutKast<\/a>, Cyndi Lauper<\/a>, Warren Zevon, Bad Company, Chubby Checker, and Joe Cocker.<\/p>\n
