The Georgia native has played prime opening slots for Luke Bryan and Miranda Lambert, made his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-country\/grand-ole-opry-nashville-members-889790\/\">Grand Ole Opry<\/a> debut, and landed a major-label deal with Interscope Records, who last week released Mason\u2019s 14-track debut album, <em>There I Go<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s me kind of letting the dream win,\u201d Mason says of the album. \u201cThis record ended up being a story of me learning to have success, and what it takes to start that \u2014\u00a0this battle between what I\u2019ve known and what I want to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tMason, who turns 25 on Monday, first picked up a guitar as a high school student in Roswell, Georgia, and started taking music seriously when the pandemic forced him home from college at Ole Miss and he began writing songs to pass the time. You catch that with the way it\u2019s tracked. I tried to be very intentional about that. Between now and then, he\u2019ll open for Gavin Adcock in Las Vegas during the National Finals Rodeo, tour Australia with Davis, and play three stadium shows <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-country\/morgan-wallen-2026-still-the-problem-tour-dates-1235456878\/\">opening for Morgan Wallen<\/a>. Mason sees himself and his career \u2014 which is not yet five years old \u2014 as a work in progress.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cI\u2019ve been getting used to it,\u201d he says. \u201cHeadlining for the first time, I thought there would be less pressure. When you go out for an opening crowd, you\u2019re trying to win them over and it feels like an away game. You\u2019re like, \u2018What if I get out there and they talk over me or they yell at me to get offstage?\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cWhen I headlined, I didn\u2019t have that feeling, but I had a different feeling. I worried that they were going to get up and leave: \u2018I spent my money on this and it wasn\u2019t what I wanted it to be.\u2019 That\u2019s all mental. But that\u2019s the anxiety,\u201d he continues. \u201cThere\u2019s nobody coming out there after you. You gotta make sure you give them the show. When we go out to headline next year, I want to let my guard down a little bit. I want to treat the room and treat the fans like we\u2019re hanging out with friends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIt helped considerably that Mason\u2019s first headlining tour in 2025 sold out. People have started calling me \u2018the Heartbreak Kid,\u2019 and I love those kind of sad songs. This one\u2019s less wide-eyed and heartbroken and surprised and sad. It\u2019s more pissed off and frustrated. You\u2019ve seen it go wrong a few times. It\u2019s the natural process of getting your heart broken a lot. You eventually stop being sad. I think people need to know that I can get pissed off.
