D\u2019Angelo<\/a> left behind a treasure trove of unreleased music before his tragic death last month, but thankfully fans will soon get to hear some of that coveted material.<\/p>\n During a red carpet interview with The National News Network<\/em><\/a> at this past weekend\u2019s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony<\/a>, longtime friend and collaborator Questlove<\/a> confirmed that a posthumous project from the late R&B legend is on the way.<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019ll see soon. With him, it\u2019s always the sound of yesterday but for the future. And this record is no different. So when it comes out, you\u2019ll know,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Raphael Saadiq<\/a>, who also worked closely with D\u2019Angelo, previously revealed that the Voodoo<\/em> virtuoso was \u201cin a good space\u201d and working on new music<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cD\u2019s in a good space right now \u2026 I called him and he was like, \u2018I got this track \u2014 you gotta get on it!’\u201d he said on the Rolling Stone Music Now<\/em> podcast in September 2024.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s working on six pieces right now and he seems super excited. He\u2019s in control of his own destiny at this point.\u201d<\/p>\n The Tony! Toni! Ton\u00e9! co-founder also teased an appearance from both himself and Q-Tip<\/a> on the album, courtesy of a years-old song recorded during sessions for the trio\u2019s short-lived supergroup Lynwood Rose.<\/p>\n \u201cI think it\u2019s gonna be a record on D\u2019Angelo\u2019s new album, a record that we all did together,\u201d Saadiq added. \u201cTip\u2019s on there rhyming, I\u2019m playing bass, me and D are singing background [vocals]. It\u2019s funky as hell.\u201d<\/p>\n The as-yet-untitled project will be D\u2019Angelo\u2019s fourth studio album and first since 2014\u2019s Black Messiah<\/em>, which won the Grammy for Best R&B Album.<\/p>\n The \u201cUntitled (How Does It Feel)\u201d hitmaker passed away on October 14<\/a> following a private battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 51 years old.<\/p>\n In a lengthy tribute published on Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a>, Questlove wrote: \u201cD\u2019Angelo, to me, was one of the last pure artists in Black music \u2026 I have to say, the last weeks with him were probably the best for our friendship.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n\n<\/blockquote>\n
