Everyone from pop superstars like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/beyonce-covers-kings-of-leons-sex-on-fire-46969\/\">Beyonc\u00e9<\/a> to country bands like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=UAxzVFj4qRQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Sugarland<\/a> and Zac Brown Band have covered the Nashville group\u2019s radio hit, which netted them their first Grammy in 2009.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tKings singer Caleb Followill can\u2019t fully explain its appeal but, on occasion, he has a visceral reaction to slower, ballad versions of \u201cSex on Fire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cSometimes I hear it, and when it\u2019s slowed down like a sultry version, I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh those lyrics\u2026\u2019 It\u2019s supposed to be dirty and raunchy and quick, and then the song is done,\u201d Followill tells <em>Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2019s <em>Nashville Now<\/em> podcast.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\"\/>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tFollowill says he initially didn\u2019t even want to include \u201cSex on Fire\u201d on the group\u2019s 2008 LP <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/only-by-the-night-255554\/\">Only by the Night<\/a><\/em>, but is happy he relented:. \u201cI tried to not have it on the album. It was at the last second that we put it on. I was saying, \u2018No, no, no. People are going to think it\u2019s a pop song.\u2019 Thank goodness I got outvoted on that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tNow, nearly 17 years later, \u201cSex on Fire,\u201d along with hits like \u201cUse Somebody\u201d and \u201cThe Bucket,\u201d have become Kings of Leon signatures. According to Followill, all he needs to do is play the first few guitar notes of \u201cSex on Fire\u201d and fists jut into the air. \u201cWe can play it at a funeral and the corpse would sit up,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tBut duplicating the song\u2019s success isn\u2019t as simple as he first thought. \u201cAfter it came out, I was like, \u2018That was easy.
