\n\tRock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee David Coverdale<\/a>, who sang for Deep Purple in the mid-Seventies and fronted Whitesnake<\/a> for the past five decades, has announced his retirement.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cLadies and gentlemen, boys and girls, brothers and sisters of the Snake, a special announcement for you,\u201d Coverdale said in a video he posted to Instagram. \u201cAfter 50 years-plus of an incredible journey with you \u2014 with Deep Purple, with Whitesnake, Jimmy Page \u2014 the last few years it has been very evident to me that it\u2019s time really for me to hang up my rock \u2018n\u2019 roll platform shoes and my skintight jeans.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cAnd as you can see, we\u2019ve taken care of the lion\u2019s wig,\u201d he continued. \u201cBut it\u2019s time for me to call it a day. I love you dearly. I thank everyone who\u2019s assisted and supported me on this incredible journey: all the musicians, the crew, the fans, the family. It\u2019s amazing. But it really is time for me to just enjoy my retirement, and I hope you can appreciate that.\u201d<\/p>\n
