Peaer<\/a>, the New York slowcore trio started by bandleader Peter Katz in 2014, have announced their first new album in nearly seven years; Doppelg\u00e4nger<\/em><\/a> is out January 16 via Danger Collective<\/a>. Their fourth LP is led by the single \u201cButton.\u201d Give that new song a listen below.<\/p>\n Katz wrote \u201cButton\u201d after beginning a full-time office job in 2023 that shifted his perspective on his identity. \u201cIt grew into a song about small moments and their impact on the course of your life,\u201d he explained. \u201cThere are lots of questions in the lyrics, a lot dealing with the idea of: You wanted this, didn’t you? What do you do now that you have it? Is it what you expected?<\/em> There is also a moment of humility towards the end, with the acknowledgement that even if we don\u2019t necessarily want to \u2018work\u2019 there is a power in being a part of something larger than yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n Doppelg\u00e4nger<\/em> follows Peaer\u2019s 2019 album A Healthy Earth<\/a>.<\/em> In the years since then, Peaer never stopped working on new music, despite their 2020 tour plans being derailed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Their new full-length collects songs from the band\u2019s entire career, with some ideas dating back to 2015.
