During that time, the dancer, singer, actress, and creative visionary experienced a number of trying life challenges, both personal and professional, and emerged stronger from it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe result was <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/eusexua\/\" id=\"auto-tag_eusexua\" data-tag=\"eusexua\">Eusexua<\/a><\/em>. The title of her third studio album \u2014 a club-informed sonic landscape both synthetic and sympathetic \u2014 won\u2019t appear in the dictionary, but it\u2019s one of those words that, even if you can\u2019t define, you understand its essence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s a pure feeling of being human\u2009\u2026\u2009a constant state of everything and nothing all at once,\u201d says Twigs, likening the concept to childhood. \u201cAs we get older, we\u2019re bogged down by worries and adult responsibilities and phones and emails and work and adverts \u2014 the things that consume us and leave us feeling insecure and self-conscious. <em>Eusexua<\/em> is a break from all of that. It\u2019s like a breath of fresh air.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe same can be said of Twigs at this juncture in her career. Long considered among the best pop alchemists (the Weeknd, Skrillex, North West \u2014 her collaborators run the gamut), she created <em>Eusexua<\/em> after a particularly dark chapter that included navigating an abusive relationship. (In 2020, Twigs sued her ex Shia LaBeouf for sexual battery, assault, and infliction of emotional distress; the two settled for an undisclosed amount earlier this year.) She <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/fka-twigs-new-album-eusexa-afterglow-interview-1235463396\/\">found salvation<\/a> on a dance floor in Prague. \u201cI\u2019d been stressed for so long; I\u2019d gone through so much, and I had this moment where none of it burdened me,\u201d says Twigs, who advocates for survivors of abuse as well as the LGBTQ+ community.\u00a0\u201cI realized I could get back to my purest sense of self \u2014 who I am deep inside. I could contact that version of myself that was pure and present and wanted to lead me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tDespite the album\u2019s title and the erotically charged, body-contorting choreography she and her dancers brought to the Eusexua Tour, Twigs says her expressions of sexuality are nuanced and hardly linear. To hear her tell it, the feelings come in waves: \u201cSometimes I feel very in touch with my sensuality and my sexuality and sometimes I don\u2019t at all. Sometimes it\u2019s very overt, and sometimes it\u2019s very playful, and curious, and vulnerable. Twigs\u2019 latest movie role, playing Mother Mary in the biblical horror film <em>The Carpenter\u2019s Son<\/em>, taps that dimension of her artistry, she says. \u201cMary\u2019s peace that we see portrayed so much in pictures and in scripture, for me it came from the strength and knowledge and tenacity that she had to raise the man that was going to save the world,\u201c Twigs explains. \u201cThat\u2019s an incredible amount of pressure and responsibility. She had to have a really strong backbone, even when not saying a lot. And in the film, I really chose when to assert my power.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tWith the tour over, the film out, and <em>Eusexua<\/em> garnering a Grammy nomination for best dance recording, Twigs is basking in the afterglow \u2014 a word which happens to be in the title of her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/fka-twigs-eusexua-afterglow-review-1235464790\/\">just-released follow-\u00ad\u00adup<\/a>. \u201cI change a lot as a person,\u201d she says. \u201cI have this endless curiosity.
