The first teaser trailer for The Moment<\/em><\/a>, the new A24 movie starring and conceived by Charli XCX<\/a>, has arrived. In the clip, we get a preview of the pop star\u2019s rapid ascent to the top during her Brat<\/a><\/em> era, but told through a self-parody style: rehearsing a punch-like dance move in a mirror, the physically painful effect of that bright-neon green<\/a> and strobe lights, and a mannequin shattering on the floor during a show rehearsal bit she\u2019s meant to replicate. Watch it below.<\/p>\n In a statement about the movie, Charli XCX said, \u201cIt\u2019s not a tour documentary or a concert film in any way, but the seed of the idea was conceived from this idea of being pressured to make one. It\u2019s fiction, but it\u2019s the realest depiction of the music industry that I\u2019ve ever seen.\u201d<\/p>\n The Moment<\/em> is helmed by Aidan Zamiri\u2014marking the music photographer\u2019s directorial debut\u2014and features a number of other celebrities and actors in smaller roles, including Alexander Skarsg\u00e5rd, Kylie Jenner, Rachel Sennott, Rosanna Arquette, Kate Berlant, Hailey Benton Gates, and Jamie Demetriou. Zamiri co-wrote the film with Bertie Brandes. The Moment<\/em> hits theaters everywhere on January 30.<\/p>\n Charli XCX is all-in on her movie era. She recently announced her Wuthering Heights<\/em><\/a> album that accompanies Emerald Fennell\u2019s upcoming film of the same name and features her John Cale collaboration \u201cHouse<\/a>.\u201d The pop star has numerous projects that are still in-the-works, too, including A24\u2019s Mother Mary<\/em><\/a>, Gregg Araki\u2019s drama I Want Your Sex<\/em><\/a>, the horror remake Faces of Death<\/em><\/a>, and a Romain Gavras film called Sacrifice<\/em><\/a> that also stars Yung Lean.<\/p>\n
