The scholarship was established in honor of the 75th anniversary of Natalie\u2019s birth, while also in ongoing commemoration of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/natalie-cole-unforgettable-rb-singer-dead-at-65-33810\/\">late singer-songwriter<\/a> (she died in 2015) and her father, the legendary jazz pianist and vocalist (who died in 1965).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe first recipient of the new scholarship is Paris Pineyro, who performs and releases music under the name Paris Dior. She\u2019s a sophomore at Berklee studying music business\/management and performance.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIn a statement shared with <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/music-news\/berklee-inaugural-nat-king-natalie-cole-scholarship-paris-dior-1236122368\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Billboard<\/a><\/em>, Nat\u2019s twin daughters \u2014 and Natalie\u2019s sisters \u2014 Casey Cole and Timolin Cole-Augustus said, \u201cOur father and sister were known for their vocal abilities and emotional delivery, even with dad often insisting he was a pianist first and foremost. Their dedication to their vocal craft is one of the reasons we\u2019re so happy that Paris is the inaugural recipient of the Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole Scholarship.
