\n\tIn response to singer Olivia Dean<\/a>\u2019s criticism<\/a> that Ticketmaster had allowed \u201cvile\u201d resale prices for her The Art of Loving <\/em>tour<\/a> set to begin next year, the company has announced that is capping future resale rates with no added fees for Dean\u2019s trek and \u201crefunding fans for any markup they already paid to resellers on Ticketmaster.\u201d <\/p>\n \n\tDean\u2019s criticisms came on Nov. 21, when she wrote on her Instagram story, \u201c[Ticketmaster<\/strong><\/a>], [Live Nation<\/strong><\/a>], [AEG]: You are providing a disgusting service. The prices at which you\u2019re allowing tickets to be re-sold is vile and completely against our wishes. Live music should be affordable and accessible, and we need to find a new way of making that possible. BE BETTER.\u201d \u00a0She followed that post with another, writing that her team is looking into the \u201cextremely frustrating\u201d issue with ticket pricing. Ticketmaster\u2019s announcement that they would heed Dean\u2019s call arrived on Nov. 26 in a post<\/a> on their website titled \u201cTicketmaster Supports Olivia Dean<\/a>\u2019s Commitment to Fair Ticket Pricing and Takes Action to Cap Resale for \u2018The Art of Loving Live\u2019 Tour on Its Site.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cWe share Olivia\u2019s desire to keep live music accessible and ensure fans have the best access to affordable tickets,\u201d said Michael Rapino, CEO of Live Nation Entertainment said in the post. \u201cWhile we can\u2019t require other marketplaces to honor artists\u2019 resale preferences, we echo Olivia\u2019s call to \u2018Do Better\u2019 and have taken steps to lead by example. We hope efforts like this help fans afford another show they\u2019ve been considering\u2014or discover someone new.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe post also detailed Ticketmaster\u2019s analysis of The Art of Loving<\/em> resale prevalence and how the refund process would work for those who were upsold. \u201cAfter reviewing all sales, less than 20% of primary tickets were listed for resale\u2014showing that Olivia\u2019s demand was driven by genuine fans who intend to go to the show rather than resellers out for profit,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n
