\n\tMichigan bluegrass phenom Billy Strings<\/a> and his band stopped by NPR<\/a>\u2019s Tiny Desk<\/a><\/em> for a performance more than a decade in the making. Backed by his band \u2014 Alex Hargreaves on fiddle, backing vocalist Billy Failing on banjo, backing vocalist and bassist Royal Masat, and Jarrod Walker on mandolin and background vocals \u2014 Strings and Co. opened with a lively \u201cRed Daisy\u201d from his 2021 album\u00a0Renewal<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n \n\tThe affable Strings chatted with the audience between songs and tuning. \u201cWe\u2019ll do this one here, soon as I get this thing back in gear,\u201d he said as he tuned his guitar before launching, eyes closed, into \u201cMy Alice\u201d from 2024\u2019s Highway Prayers<\/a><\/em>. They also performed that album\u2019s \u201cMalfunction Junction,\u201d and closed with the beautifully harmonized \u201cGild the Lily.\u201d<\/p>\n
