Wiz Khalifa<\/a> is facing almost a year in prison in Romania for weed possession, but is hoping to avoid a stint behind bars.<\/p>\n According to TMZ<\/a><\/em>, Romania\u2019s Constan\u021ba Court of Appeal upheld an appeal on Thursday (December 18) to sentence the Pittsburgh native to nine months in jail, overturning a previous ruling that sought to merely fine him 3,000 Romanian lei (roughly $700).<\/p>\n While Wiz himself has yet to comment on the sentence, sources close to the 38-year-old say that \u201cnothing is set in stone just yet\u201d and his team are \u201ccurrently in the process of appealing the sentence.\u201d<\/p>\n Court documents reveal that Wiz was convicted for \u201cunlawful possession of dangerous drugs for personal use,\u201d with the Eastern European country imposing notoriously strict punishments for illegal substances.<\/p>\n The Taylor Gang rapper was arrested in July 2024 following his performance at the Beach Please! Festival in Costine\u0219ti, Romania, where he smoked what appeared to be a joint onstage while dancing to Dr. Dre<\/a> and Snoop Dogg<\/a>\u2018s \u201cThe Next Episode.\u201d<\/p>\n Local officials said at the time that Wiz had \u201cunlawfully possessed, for his own consumption, the quantity of 18.53 grams of cannabis and a cigarette containing cannabis.\u201d<\/p>\n The rapper apologized for the incident shortly after, writing on X (formerly Twitter): \u201cLast night\u2019s show was amazing. I didn\u2019t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage. They were very respectful and let me go. I\u2019ll be back soon. But without a big ass joint next time.\u201d<\/p>\n
