I first\u00a0enjoyed\u00a0<\/span>Taylor Acorn\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><\/b>music<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/b>when she opened for\u00a0<\/span>Noahfinnce\u00a0<\/span><\/b>last year. I was meant to listen further, and\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0only just got around to it with her release of\u00a0<\/span>Poster Child.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n A 12-track album that sets out to create a sense of nostalgia by revisiting the early sounds of 00s pop punk. It\u2019s fast-paced, with catchy lyrics and fun melodies. Released in late October, I am still very late within my response, but I\u2019m quite pleased with what I\u2019ve heard.<\/span><\/p>\n It opens with\u00a0<\/span>People Pleaser,\u00a0<\/span><\/i>which\u00a0immediately\u00a0reminded me of\u00a0<\/span>Kelly Clarkson\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><\/b>Since U Been Gone.\u00a0<\/span><\/i>Thinking about,\u00a0<\/span>Taylor Acorn\u00a0<\/span><\/b>sounds a bit like\u00a0<\/span>Kelly Clarkson<\/span><\/b>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/b>but\u00a0it was\u00a0mainly\u00a0the\u00a0instrumentation and melody within the first verse\u00a0almost being\u00a0identical to\u00a0<\/span>Since U Been Gone.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n The album holds onto this light-hearted pop punk a lot, and it does create that sense of familiarity for the songs that I grew up hearing. I also really liked\u00a0<\/span>Home Videos,\u00a0<\/span><\/i>as\u00a0I felt it\u00a0was very Southern-American, and it seemed very personal to\u00a0<\/span>Taylor.\u00a0<\/span><\/b>A lot of the more emotional songs do take a sad or hurt stance, so I really liked the anger streak in\u00a0<\/span>Blood\u00a0On\u00a0Your Hands.\u00a0<\/span><\/i>It really made it stand out against the rest of the tracks.<\/span><\/p>\n Masquerade\u00a0<\/span><\/i>was a good song to end with. The saddest song on the album, and it stayed soft, compared to the other tracks.<\/span><\/p>\n Each song\u2019s well-written and is clearly personal.<\/span><\/p>\n Taylor Acorn\u00a0<\/span><\/b>is\u00a0very talented, in writing and singing.\u00a0It is enjoyable music, although I\u00a0would\u2019ve\u00a0liked a bit more range in both melody and themes. Towards the end, I felt like I was hearing the same song, with the exceptions of those that\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0talked about. Individually, the songs are fun, and\u00a0I\u2019d\u00a0probably love\u00a0to hear them.\u00a0As a whole album, I found myself losing interest.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
