{"id":54351,"date":"2025-12-22T22:01:42","date_gmt":"2025-12-22T22:01:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2025\/12\/22\/asake-reacts-to-fans-death-after-stampede-outside-kenya-show\/"},"modified":"2025-12-22T22:01:42","modified_gmt":"2025-12-22T22:01:42","slug":"asake-reacts-to-fans-death-after-stampede-outside-kenya-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2025\/12\/22\/asake-reacts-to-fans-death-after-stampede-outside-kenya-show\/","title":{"rendered":"Asake Reacts to Fan&#8217;s Death After Stampede Outside Kenya Show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tNigerian star <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/asake-afrobeats-new-album-mr-money-with-the-vibe-1234588970\/\">Asake<\/a> has spoken out on Instagram amid reports that a woman was killed in a stampede outside the gates of his concert at Nairobi, Kenya\u2019s Nyayo Stadium on Dec. 20.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAccording to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/pidgin\/articles\/c1kp1vwzz4vo\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BBC<\/a>, Kenya\u2019s National Police Service said that a 20-year-old woman was crushed to death near an entry point of the stadium. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/asake\/\" id=\"auto-tag_asake\" data-tag=\"asake\">Asake<\/a>, the BBC, and several other outlets identified the victim as Karen Lojore. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cDuring a musical concert for Nyayo National Stadium, there was a brief stampede at the entrance gate,\u201d a spokesperson for Kenya\u2019s National Police Service told the BBC. \u201cWhile the situation later calmed down and fans were able to access the stadium with the concert progressing, an unfortunate case of a 20-year-old woman who was pressed to death near the entry point was recorded.\u201d (Kenya\u2019s National Police Service did not immediately return <em>Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2019s request for comment.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tOn his Instagram Story, Asake wrote that he was \u201cdevastated by the tragic incident,\u201d adding, \u201cMy heart goes out to the family, friends, and loved ones of Karen Lojore, and I pledge to support and do my best to understand what happened. Those responsible should be held accountable. Music has always been my way of sharing love and joy, and it breaks my heart that anyone had to experience such loss. My thoughts are with everyone grieving, and I pray that Karen rests in peace. Out of respect for the family and the ongoing investigation, we will not speculate on the circumstances surrounding the incident. Asake <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DOWDqPsiDCf\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">announced<\/a> the performance back in September as part of a slate of shows across Africa this winter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThis is not Asake\u2019s first experience with a deadly crowd surge: in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/woman-dies-crush-asake-concert-london-1234649298\/\">December 2022<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/uk-england-london-67704945\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">two people<\/a> were killed in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/asake-honors-crowd-crush-victims-london-show-tragedy-1234809547\/\">crowd crush<\/a> at London\u2019s Brixton Academy. At the time, he issued a statement on his \u201cgrief,\u201d offering condolences for the deaths, and his work with police to \u201cdetermine exactly what led to the disruption.\u201d The following June, he told <em>Rolling Stone<\/em>, \u201cEverything was just so overwhelming.
