Joel halted all touring plans in May 2025 after being diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus, a disorder where disorder where excess\u00a0cerebrospinal fluid accumulates\u00a0in the brain. Doctors said Joel\u2019s performances exacerbated his condition, “leading to problems with hearing, vision and balance.”<\/p>\n
“I’m sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience,” Joel said at the time, \u201cand thank you for understanding.”<\/p>\n
Joel played his most recent full-length concert on Feb. 22 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.<\/p>\n
The singer offered a positive health update<\/a> on a July episode of Bill Maher\u2019s Club Random Podcast<\/em>. \u201cI feel good,”\u00a0he told the host. “They keep referring to what I have as a brain disorder, so it sounds a lot worse than what I\u2019m feeling.”<\/p>\n“It’s not fixed. It’s still being worked on,” he added.\u00a0“I feel fine. My balance sucks. It’s like being on a boat.”<\/p>\n
