Donald Trump has given a definitive answer on whether he\u2019ll grant Diddy<\/a>\u2018s request for a pardon \u2014 and it\u2019s not good news for the Bad Boy boss.<\/p>\n In an interview with The New York Times<\/a><\/em> on Wednesday (January 7), President Trump revealed that Puffy had \u201casked me for a pardon \u2026 through a letter.\u201d<\/p>\n However, \u201cMr. Trump said he is not considering granting the request,\u201d the publication reported. \u201cMr. Trump also indicated that he had no intention of pardoning several other high-profile people.\u201d<\/p>\n The existence of the letter has not been previously reported, but last summer one of Diddy\u2019s attorneys, Nicole Westmoreland, told CNN<\/em> that \u201cwe\u2019ve reached out and had conversations in reference to a pardon.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n Months later, TMZ<\/a><\/em> reported that Trump was considering granting clemency to Diddy<\/a>, who is serving a four-year prison sentence on prostition-related charges.<\/p>\n \u201cThe President is \u2018vacillating\u2019 on a commutation. We\u2019re told some of the W.H. staff are urging Trump not to commute the sentence,\u201d the outlet reported. \u201cBut, our source states the obvious \u2014 \u2018Trump will do what he wants,\u2019 and we\u2019re told Trump could set Diddy free as early as this week.\u201d<\/p>\n However, the White House denied this report, with an official telling the National News Desk<\/a><\/em> that it was \u201cfake news\u201d that Trump was considering commuting Diddy\u2019s sentence.<\/p>\n Despite once being social acquaintances, Trump previously indicated that he would not grant Diddy any favors in relation to his legal problems.<\/p>\n \u201cI was very friendly with him. I got along with him great, and [he] seemed like a nice guy. I didn\u2019t know him well,\u201d the president told the cable network Newsmax<\/a> last year. \u201cBut when I ran for office, he was very hostile.\u201d<\/p>\n Trump added that the rap mogul\u2019s criticism of his presidential campaign would make it \u201cmore difficult\u201d for him to pardon him.<\/p>\n
