Alexis Taylor<\/a> has always managed a steady solo career outside his electro-pop outfit Hot Chip<\/a>. Now he\u2019s back with Paris in the Spring<\/em>, his seventh album under his own name. The record drops March 13 via Night Time Stories. Check out the artwork\u2014and watch Taylor, Lola Kirke, and a bunch of mannequins perform in the music video for lead single \u201cOut of Phase\u201d\u2014below.<\/p>\n Fittingly, Taylor recorded most of Paris<\/em> at Nicolas Godin<\/a>\u2019s studio in Paris, and recruited the Avalanches, \u00c9tienne de Cr\u00e9cy, Pierre Rousseau\u00a0of Paradis, Ewan Pearson, Elizabeth White\u00a0of Pale Blue, and Scritti Politti\u2019s Green Gartside for contributions.<\/p>\n In a statement, Taylor says Paris<\/em> is ultimately about \u201cfreedom\u2014from constraints, from preconceptions, and from genre.\u201d \u201cSometimes an audience wants to be told, what is<\/em>\u00a0this?\u201d he added. \u201cAnd I\u2019m refusing to do that. You can find great things in music when you open up to real listening.
