Cole<\/a> has responded to <a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/artist\/camron\" target=\"_blank\">Cam\u2019ron<\/a>\u2018s lawsuit over \u201cReady \u201924\u201d, denying they ever agreed to record the song in exchange for a future collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>The suit, <a class=\"underline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/news\/camron-sues-j-cole-ready-24\/\" target=\"_blank\">filed in October 2025<\/a>, accuses Cole of failing to keep his promise to bless Cam with a guest verse or interview after the Harlem native appeared on his <em>Might Delete Later<\/em> track.<\/p>\n<p>Killa Cam, who claims he was never properly credited or compensated for his contribution to the Billboard Hot 100 hit, is seeking his share of the profits from the song, which he estimates is at least $500,000.<\/p>\n<p>In a response filed on Tuesday (February 10), however, J. Cole\u2019s attorneys argue that no such agreement was ever made \u2014 and that Cam\u2019ron actually featured on \u201cReady \u201924\u201d \u201cvoluntarily and without condition\u201d without \u201crais[ing] any objections prior to its commercial release.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Cam\u2019ron] encouraged and blessed [J. Cole\u2019s] use of his performance, as it was to his career benefit,\u201d Cole\u2019s lawyer, Christine Lepera, wrote in the court filing, per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/pro\/j-cole-responds-camron-lawsuit-song-podcast-appearance\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Billboard<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lepera also blasted Cam for \u201cpublicly disparaging\u201d the Dreamville star, adding: \u201cIt was only after the release of \u2018Ready \u201824\u2019 that he began to demand unreasonable conditions never agreed to by Cole, or an excessive fee inconsistent with industry standards for a featured performance, followed by the filing of this lawsuit without notice to publicly disparage Cole as leverage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Neither Cam\u2019ron nor his attorneys have yet commented on J. Cole\u2019s response.<\/p>\n<p><iframe class=\"optanon-category-C0003\" width=\"900\" height=\"360\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/cGIs-fvf_fw?si=qzfhgeTVztpqxG3G\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The development comes shortly after <a class=\"underline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/news\/camron-explains-j-cole-lawsuit\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cam publicly addressed the lawsuit<\/a> on his YouTube show <em>Talk With Flee<\/em>, where he accused Cole of repeatedly curving his request for a collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>When he first reached out for a guest verse, Cam claimed that Cole told him something to the effect of: \u201cThe chakra ain\u2019t right now. The moon gotta align with the stars. When I write I put my all into it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[I was like], \u2018Okay, well put your all into it!\u2019\u201d he joked.<\/p>\n<p>Killa said he feels especially aggrieved because he returned Cole\u2019s own feature request in rapid time, knocking out his \u201cReady \u201924\u201d verse in just \u201c20 minutes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Harlem native, who has established himself as a leading media personality in recent years, instead asked Cole for an interview, which he agreed to do to promote an upcoming album. (It\u2019s unclear if he was referring to <em>Might Delete Later<\/em> or the recently released <a class=\"underline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/news\/j-cole-2pac-biggie-song-fall-off\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Fall-Off<\/em><\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>According to Cam, however, Cole continually put off their conversation due to him delaying the project and not wanting to publicly discuss his high-profile (albeit brief) rap battle with <a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/artist\/kendrick-lamar\" target=\"_blank\">Kendrick Lamar<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow we gonna do it in October,\u201d Cam explained after claiming that Cole reneged on their original plan to record the interview that June. \u201c[I said,] \u2018Alright, I\u2019ll call you back in October.\u2019 This is when all the beef is going on with Kendrick Lamar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Cole told me], \u2018Yo, I can\u2019t do it right now because I don\u2019t feel like talking about that.\u2019 I said, \u2018Look, I won\u2019t even bring that up.\u2019 He says, \u2018Nah, I can\u2019t do no interview and not talk about it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cam\u2019ron claimed that they rescheduled their interview for the following February, but Cole again brushed him off, telling him that he was \u201cstill working\u201d on his album \u2014 much to Killa\u2019s frustration.<\/p>\n<p><iframe class=\"optanon-category-C0003\" width=\"900\" height=\"360\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/EAt-6CA1Y4k?si=967NDDx_f0NY-N8P&amp;start=1020\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/hiphopdx.com\/news\/j-cole-responds-camron-lawsuit\/\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>J.
