As Caroline Jones<\/a>\u2019 song \u201cNo Tellin\u2019\u201d climbs the country music charts, it\u2019s easy to get swept up in the melody \u2014 but the lyrics carry some darker truths beneath the surface.<\/p>\n Jones recently appeared on Taste of Country Nights<\/em><\/a>, where I asked about the story behind the song, and the country newcomer didn\u2019t hold back in her response.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s actually about an abusive relationship I was in when I was younger. It took me a really long time to be able to write a song about it,” she shared.\u00a0“Sometimes when you\u2019re in a relationship like that, and you\u2019re really isolated, the only story you know is the story they\u2019ve told you.\u201d<\/p>\n The Zac Brown Band<\/a> guitarist told me, \u201cYears of distance and therapy \u2014 and meeting my husband, too \u2014 helped me get to a place where I could finally talk about it.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cOnce you do have the courage to speak about it, write about it and sing about it, it\u2019s so much less scary because so many people have been through something like that on different levels.
