Recorded at jazz clubs in New York and Philadelphia between 1961 and 1965 by saxophonist Frank Tiberi, the <em>Tiberi Tapes<\/em> have long been relegated to a private collection. But as part of a year-long celebration of Coltrane\u2019s 100th birthday in September, the set will land on <a data-offer-url=\"https:\/\/www.impulserecords.com\/\" class=\"external-link\" data-event-click=\"{&quot;element&quot;:&quot;ExternalLink&quot;,&quot;outgoingURL&quot;:&quot;https:\/\/www.impulserecords.com\/&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.impulserecords.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Impulse!<\/a> as a Record Store Day exclusive on April 18, ahead of a wider release this September.<\/p>\n<p>To celebrate the centennial, Impulse! has also shared a new video for the <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/reviews\/albums\/21158-a-love-supreme-the-complete-masters\/\"><em>A Love Supreme<\/em><\/a> opener \u201cAcknowledgement.\u201d Directed by <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/search\/?q=kamasi+washington\">Kamasi Washington<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/artists\/32541-mitski\/\">Mitski<\/a> collaborator AG Rojas, it features a faithful recreation of New Jersey\u2019s Van Gelder Studios on the day <em>A Love Supreme<\/em> was recorded there. Check out the video below.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cColtrane 100\u201d programming will also include reissues of classics like <em>Ascension<\/em>, <em>Africa\/Brass<\/em> and <em>Impressions<\/em>; a new best-of compilation highlighting his 1957 and 1958 sessions; and a sound installation overseen by hi-fi specialist Devon Cooper at New York\u2019s Cooper Hewitt. A September 23 show at the Hollywood Bowl, \u201cColtrane 100: Legacy,\u201d will feature orchestral adaptations of Coltrane\u2019s work from Wynton Marsalis, saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin, and a 16-piece symphony.
