The rapper and his wife are both expected to testify at the trial, which is scheduled to last 12 days. It\u2019s also possible Censori will sit at the defense table as a representative of her husband\u2019s company, the couple\u2019s lawyer, Andrew Cherkasky, said on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cThe parties and witnesses you\u2019re calling must comply with the basic dress code of the court. No hats, sunglasses, or revealing clothing. No drama,\u201d Judge Brock T. Hammond said at the final status conference Friday. \u201cAnd if someone doesn\u2019t comply, they will not be allowed in the courtroom. If a witness is not dressed appropriately, they will be turned around at the door.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe trial will zero in on claims that Ye and his property company hired plaintiff Tony Saxon in September 2021 to oversee renovations of the beachfront mansion designed by Pritzker Prize\u2013winning Japanese architect Tadao Ando. In a saga that made headlines nationwide, Ye purchased the stunning home for $57.3 million in 2021 and stripped it to its bare concrete shell before finally unloading it in September 2024 for just $21 million, marking a staggering loss. The buyer, Steve \u201cBo\u201d Belmont,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/california\/story\/2024-09-26\/kanye-ye-malibu-home-buyer-plans-to-fully-restore-mansion\">told the\u00a0<em>Los Angeles Times<\/em><\/a>\u00a0that his goal was to restore the architectural gem, \u201cto make it as though Kanye was never there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAccording to the lawsuit, Saxon agreed to oversee the project while living on the property and providing round-the-clock security. Saxon alleges he was promised $20,000 a week but received only a single payment. He further alleges he slept at the construction site without a bed and struggled to meet what he describes as increasingly extreme demands. He said it was possible members of the public with \u201cvery strong opinions\u201d might show up wearing their own shirts with potentially offensive content. If Ye is \u201cjust standing in the hallway\u201d during court breaks, \u201cit could be a dangerous situation\u201d for him and others, he said. \u201cI\u2019m requesting, even if it\u2019s just a closet or some sort, that we have some place we can go where there\u2019s a zone of safety for my client,\u201d Cherkasky said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cThere is no special treatment for anyone in this courthouse,\u201d the judge replied. \u201cI can tell you that court security knows this case is coming up. Ye, 48, was famously sued\u00a0more than a dozen times\u00a0after going on a highly publicized antisemitic tirade several years ago. In October 2022, he\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/kanye-west-antisemitism-backlash-1234617665\/\">tweeted his now-infamous plan<\/a>\u00a0to \u201cgo death con 3 ON JEWISH PEOPLE.\u201d\u00a0Weeks later,\u00a0<em>Rolling Stone<\/em>\u00a0published an investigation that found\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/kanye-west-yeezy-porn-bullying-kim-kardashian-1234635221\/\">he presided over a \u201ctoxic\u201d work environment at his Yeezy label<\/a>, telling one staffer that \u201cskinheads and Nazis were his greatest inspiration.\u201d Ye later apologized\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/kanye-west-apology-jewish-community-antisemitic-comments-1234936039\/\">in an Instagram post written in Hebrew<\/a>, but he again promoted antisemitic ideology, sporting\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/loudwire.com\/kanye-west-burzum-shirt-varg-vikernes-response\/\">a T-shirt for the Norwegian metal musician Burzum<\/a>, who has been fined for antisemitism. His lawsuit is seeking unpaid wages, medical expenses, and damages for lost earnings and emotional distress.
