The <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/reviews\/albums\/8794-apologies-to-the-queen-mary\/\"><em>Apologies to the Queen Mary<\/em><\/a> track recently went viral after being used in a pivotal scene of the HBO romance series <em>Heated Rivalry.<\/em> Krug <a data-offer-url=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DTvVG5pjtSm\/\" class=\"external-link\" data-event-click=\"{&quot;element&quot;:&quot;ExternalLink&quot;,&quot;outgoingURL&quot;:&quot;https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DTvVG5pjtSm\/&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DTvVG5pjtSm\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">broke out<\/a> his stripped-down rendition of the song during a Vancouver concert last month, and this version was recorded in a studio in response to how well it was received. This is easily the best one, second only to Wolf Parade\u2019s rendition,\u201d Krug wrote on <a data-offer-url=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DU--Ng-keHw\/?hl=en\" class=\"external-link\" data-event-click=\"{&quot;element&quot;:&quot;ExternalLink&quot;,&quot;outgoingURL&quot;:&quot;https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DU--Ng-keHw\/?hl=en&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DU--Ng-keHw\/?hl=en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Instagram<\/a>. \u201cI feel like I finally have a solo version of the song that I can bring to my solo sets, that I can sincerely stand behind, because it pays proper tribute to the Wolf Parade version\u2014heartfelt, grandiose, cathartic, and a joy to play. I\u2019m reminded of feelings I had two decades ago when first discovering what the song wanted to be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with <a data-offer-url=\"https:\/\/www.vulture.com\/article\/wolf-parade-heated-rivalry-ill-believe-in-anything-interview.html\" class=\"external-link\" data-event-click=\"{&quot;element&quot;:&quot;ExternalLink&quot;,&quot;outgoingURL&quot;:&quot;https:\/\/www.vulture.com\/article\/wolf-parade-heated-rivalry-ill-believe-in-anything-interview.html&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vulture.com\/article\/wolf-parade-heated-rivalry-ill-believe-in-anything-interview.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Vulture<\/a>, Krug and bandmate Dan Boeckner explained how their Wolf Parade song was licensed for <em>Heated Rivalry<\/em>, noting that the series creator and director Jacob Tierney outlined exactly how \u201cI\u2019ll Believe in Anything\u201d would be used in the scene. \u201cIt felt really intentional,\u201d\u00a0said Krug. \u201cYou could tell he cared about the song, too. He wanted that song, which made it an easy yes. It wasn\u2019t like, \u2018Well, if this doesn\u2019t work and they say no, we\u2019ll ask a different band.\u2019 I think if we said no, he would have had to change the script.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Apologies to the Queen Mary<\/em> was released in 2005 and given <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/63994-wolf-parade-announce-apologies-to-the-queen-mary-deluxe-reissue-expand-tour\/\">a deluxe reissue<\/a> in 2016 when Wolf Parade <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/62890-wolf-parade-are-back\/\">returned<\/a> after <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/40840-wolf-parade-go-on-indefinite-hiatus\/\">a long hiatus<\/a>. In 2022, the band performed <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/wolf-parade-announce-apologies-to-the-queen-mary-shows-with-original-lineup\/\">a series of shows<\/a> during which they played the album in full.
