\n\tRadiohead<\/a> are telling ICE<\/a> \u201cgo fuck yourselves\u201d and demanding that they remove a social media video featuring a version of the band\u2019s OK Computer<\/a> <\/em>song, \u201cLet Down.\u201d\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n \n\tIn a statement issued Friday, Feb. 27, Radioehad said, \u201cWe demand that the amateurs in control of the ICE social media account take [the video] down. It ain\u2019t funny, this song means a lot to us and other people, and you don\u2019t get to appropriate it without a fight.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe statement appears to be in response to a video<\/a> shared on ICE\u2019s social media accounts last week, which featured a choral rendition of \u201cLet Down.\u201d (It was also posted on accounts belonging to the Department of Homeland Security, the White House, and President Donald Trump<\/a>.) The song accompanied a video featuring photographs of American citizens that ICE claimed had been \u201craped and murdered by those who have no right to be in our country.\u201d The caption on the post added, \u201cThis is who we fight for. This is our why.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tRadiohead\u2019s frustration with the ICE video comes after the band\u2019s guitarist, Jonny Greenwood, demanded a portion of his score<\/a> for Paul Thomas Anderson\u2019s Phantom Thread<\/a><\/em> be removed from the recent Melania Trump documentary<\/a>. Though Greenwood does not own the copyright to the score, he claimed that Universal failed to consult him on this third-party use, which was \u201ca breach of his composer agreement.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe Trump administration has made a habit of soundtracking social media videos with songs by artists who are likely to dispute<\/a> the use of their music in this way. Sabrina Carpenter<\/a>, Olivia Rodrigo<\/a>, and SZA<\/a> have all condemned the use of their music in propaganda videos tied to the government\u2019s brutal immigration crackdown. However, because of the way music licenses are governed on social media, there\u2019s little artists are able to do to actually get this content removed.<\/p>\n
