This week on Taste of Country Nights<\/a>,<\/em>\u00a0I caught up with Brent Smith<\/a><\/span><\/span>, lead singer of the multi-platinum rock band Shinedown<\/a><\/span><\/span>, who had some high praise for Ella Langley<\/a>.<\/p>\n Shinedown has been seeing some country crossover momentum lately, as their song “Searchlights<\/a>” has started gaining traction at country radio stations across the country. That led me to ask Smith who he sees as a true force in the genre right now.<\/p>\n \u201cElla Langley\u00a0\u2014 I mean, that voice is something brand new to me,” he said.\u00a0“I didn\u2019t know a lot about her, but \u2018Choosin\u2019 Texas\u2019 just kind of got me out of the dump.\u201d<\/p>\n Keep in mind, Shinedown<\/span><\/span> is one of the most successful rock bands of the 21st century<\/a>, so that kind of compliment carries serious weight for Ella Langley<\/span><\/span>\u2019s r\u00e9sum\u00e9.<\/p>\n Smith went on to explain what makes \u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas\u201d such an earworm: \u201cShe sounds like somebody you\u2019d wanna hang out with. Like, \u2018This dude chose Texas? I\u2019d rather hang out with you!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n “There’s something just something really honest in her voice and she just seems like a good hang.”<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Smith<\/span><\/span>, the lead singer of Shinedown<\/span><\/span>, told me directly on Taste of Country Nights<\/em><\/a>\u00a0that he\u2019s open to more than just praise.<\/p>\n \u201cIf she [Langley] wants to do a feature, that would be awesome \u2026 bring it on!\u201d<\/p>\n Smith said Shinedown<\/span><\/span> would be open to collaborating with Ella Langley<\/span><\/span> \u2014 whether that means creating something brand new together or even jumping on a remix of \u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas\u201d as a feature.<\/p>\n So if you\u2019re just now discovering Langley, what other tracks should be on your radar?
